Went to Helsinki and Espoo a few years ago. Very friendly people, bitterly cold (I went in October and it was below freezing most days and dropped to about - 20 at night) and incredibly clean. the food was awesome - huge amounts of meat and beer (just like you'd expect from a bunch of vikings really!). In fact, the closest I could compare it to would be Bavaria - they are very 'Germanic' in a lot of their ways. Oh, and they love Ice Hockey as well - their professional league is probably second only to the NHL (major North American pro league) in standard - highly recommend you take in a game if you're going.
