My favourite big Jack story is when he used to take his Ireland squad out to the pub in their home country. Everything was all on him and he would always settle up at the end of the evening, always by cheque. He knew that it was always free as the cheque would always be put in a frame in pride of place on the pub wall rather than be banked.
