In this frame, Aneke’s chest may be offside. However the shot is taken after the ball already left McGeady’s foot.
It’s a very very marginal call and I believe it only went against us because he was standing in an offside position when the ball fell at his feet.
Then the officials are inept ..... because the Offside Law clearly states "at the moment the ball is played".
Understand that. What I was saying is that the limo probably guessed on a call that could’ve gone either way because Aneke found himself in so much space. It *looked* offside.
Officials are not there to "guess" decisions.
No but he has to make a decision either way. Flag up or flag down, it would be a guess. Are you advocating for VAR here? :-)
It looked 50/50 on a freeze frame replay. When he sees Aneke pick the ball up in a position that’s a couple of feet offside, I reckon that’s swayed him.
I reckon the lino's thought that as our strikers don't really move when they're in the box if Chuks has received the ball in an offside position he therefore must have been offside when the ball was played.
Sadly it all matters not a jot. We didn't get the decision and our chronic lack of goals could be what does us. Our relegation rivals seems to be able to score for fun. Once we concede a goal I have practically zero confidence in our ability to score 2
