This is really worthy only of the not so late-lamented Katrien Meire but were she still here there is little doubt that she would have seized upon the marketing opportunity created by the cardboard cut-out occupied seats phenomenon to offer the cut-outs discounted season-tickets for next season.
I'm not talking about as a reward for those having paid £25 for the final games of this season but as a way of making some money from those fans who for whatever reason can't attend games at The Valley but who would like to be there in spirit (or rather in this instance by way of an artificial image).
So £25 for your cut-out, then £150 for the season inclusive of storage and subsequent placement in the seat of your choice at the commencement of each home game (restricted to available seats in the upper West-Stand Block R only).
The additional Meire-like benefit would be that those that availed themselves of this service would then be added to the official attendance figures...........job done.
At least one hospitality box could also be made available to the Cut-Outs and re-named the Cardboard Box and .................ok is getting silly now but don't believe for one minute that Ms Meire would have discounted the idea out-of-hand - after all - the pitch-side sofa innovation was perhaps unique in world football and was one of reasons her blue-sky thinking was brought into the Club ...........oh and to ditch Yann Kermorgant as well of course.
