City v Liverpool this weekend already looks like a must win for City. Lose and they'll be 8 points back. Win and the gap is 2 points and they have a game in hand.
Despite being top, Liverpool have not impressed at all and look very vulnerable defensively.

Rather a "cannot afford to lose". A draw means that the gap will still be 5 points and they have a home game against Villa in hand. There will still be 90 points to play for.
It was odd that Liverpool didn't replace Lovren who they sold in the summer
VVD, Gomez and Matip plus Fabinho who'd more of a midfielder really isn't a great deal of depth for a long season, unless they were expecting to call up academy players like Phillips

I think part of the issue is that, at the very top and unlike say 30 or 40 years ago, CBs have to be reasonably quick, to be able to play football and not just defend. You only have to see how England's strength in that department is now so bare - Maguire, Stones, Gomez etc etc have all been exposed this season. It's also the reason why both Liverpool and City have used midfielders to play there rather than go out and spend £40m plus on someone who isn't good enough.
The one player they could have tried to get and who would have bitten their hand off to go back is Coady. The only concern with him is that he is very comfortable playing in a back 3 but how good is he with just him and one other in that position?

Given VVD's reliability, starting over 90 consecutive league games before his injury, they probably assumed that 3 players to cover the 1 other CB role was enough.
To be fair to Walcott he's shown more energy and application tonight than he did in the last 10 years for Arsenal. Perhaps because he has a bit more of a free role and isn't stuck out on the wing the whole time
How soon before Bowyer is linked with the Newcastle job
No way is Bruce getting sacked, he's done really well considering Ashley gives him very little money in Premier league terms. He brought in Hendrick, Lewis, Fraser and Wilson for about 35m, great business. They'll be in no danger of going down.
After 35 minutes and with a forward line featuring Bale, Son and Kane, against the mighty WBA who have conceded most goals per game in the PL, Spurs have had one shot and that wasn't even on target. They have had just two touches in the WBA box too.
The second time this season that Spurs have managed just one shot in the first half of a PL game this season. The last time was away to Southampton - and they ended up scoring 5!!!!
Cannot for the life of me understand how some people think he’s overrated. The best English centre forward since Shearer.
Agree. Not only a great goalscorer and Centre forward but can create a myriad of assists for his buddy Son. Excellent passer of the ball from deeper positions.

Crazy fee either way though. For some reason I thought he signed for something like £15 million. £40 million for him seems insane.
football is killing itself with decisions like this.
Otherwise was Fulham's best player. All his effort now overshadowed.
Ademola will have recurring nightmares over that attempt.

Although Haaland is rapidly catching the pair of them. Incredible talent for someone still only 20.
