  • Phew thats great news!!... Especially if Ipswich didnt have any call ups themselves
  • Rearranged to the 22nd December. Perfect time of the year to spend on my couch watching us on TV.
  • The new date for the clash between Town and the Addicks at Portman Road is Tuesday 22 December at 7.45pm.

However, should both sides be knocked out of the FA Cup in the first round, the game will be played on Saturday 28 November at 3pm.

Or, should both sides be knocked out at the group stage of the EFL Trophy, then they will meet on Tuesday 8 December at 7.45pm.

  • We might have a team by then and can give them a game under the Christmas lights, definitely to our advantage
  • Why are people celebrating this?

because Ipswich are doing well at the moment and we are not and by the time the game is played we'd have a much better team hopefully ....

Its annoying that it puts more strain on our fixture list before Christmas

But at the same time Sunderland | Ipswich are back to back fixtures which could hurt us if the squad isnt up to scratch

This way we can at least get to the closure of the transfer window now having solely played Sunderland and hopefully with a team ready to fly up the league

Of course there is no guarantee we'd lose to Ipswich in the original fixture, but certainly nicer being able to go in better prepared

    What he said.
  • Or by the time we play the rearranged game we'll be knee deep in another injury crisis and still have a weak team

That would be horrific from a manager's point of view, with an already overloaded Christmas/New Year period and trying to keep a squad fit and fresh.

Ipswich are top, 100% record and haven't conceded a goal.
We are 18th and lost 2 out of 3.
We still need to recruit @ half of our team.

They won't go out in the first round.....THEY have FA Cup pedigree.

At the moment Blackpool | Northampton later this month are back to back fixtures that could hurt us with the current state of the squad.

Ok, apart from that, what have the Romans ever done for us? ;)
  • Both teams out of the cup and have an open weekend on Nov 28-29. Will it get brought forward?

Hasn’t mattered this year, nor the last 10 seasons in which they’ve won just one tie.
  • The only thing that worries me is with that game already penciled in and with Rochdale getting knocked out will the EFL say we need to play Rochdale on 28th as thats a fee day for both teams and leave the Ipswich game on 22nd December

Either one works just fine. I’d assume since the conditions were already set to bring forward the Ipswich game, Rochdale (H) gets played on Dec 22nd now.
  • FA Cup pedigree? Ipswich? Wtf?

Anyway, who reckons that both teams lost on purpose?

Play Rochdale on the 28th nov and by the time we get to 22nd of December we will of opened a 10 point gap between us and 2nd
  • Would rather play Ipswich in December with Famewo out

Not really was hoping to not have any game on 22nd December considering between November 21st and January 2nd there are already 11 games to play plus Rochdale to fit in now, the only midweek we currently have off is the 8th December, it would have been nice to have the Tuesday before the Christmas rush off, still hoping either Rochdale or Ipswich get knocked out on Tuesday then we can have one game on November 28th and one on December 8th then we get a week between Swindon on 19 and Plymouth on Boxing day

We've already agreed  with Ipswich & the EFL what is going to happen. The Rochdale game is a red herring. We will still play it if we have only 2 players called up.
