It’s quite strange isn’t it. Seeing tweets from Wales fans and their social media account and they’re reacting to it in the sort of way we would react to a Johnnie Jackson or Chris Powell type icon, but I just have next to no interest.

I have gone both ways on the Gunter / Matthews debate.

I initially wanted Matthews to stay but felt in his early games Gunter was an upgrade. The fact that Chris has 100 caps and Adam only 14 when they play in the same position over a 10 year period suggests that he is the better player. I hope that they both stay and compete for the shirt next year whatever Division we are in .

I feel Gunter's reputation suffered when he was redeployed as a centre back .

I wish him well on his 100th cap and do feel proud that he reached the landmark as an Addick .

I'd rather play Matthews, from what I've seen of him he doesn't add anything to the side.

Jonny Williams playing RWB for Wales, when did Bowyer get the Wales managers job
  • Both Matthews and Gunter can play at the bottom half of Championship Gunter has made a few mistakes but not as many as some are suggesting. No doubt both can do better and hopefully NA will help them do that. If only one stays very likely it will be Gunter,  not least because he has a contract for next season

I’d prefer Matthews over Gunter. Both ok in League One. If we were to go up we’d need a new right back.

Well done but Matthews a much better defender and footballer for me. I don’t think we’d have had as many issues in defence if he’d started the season and stayed injury free,

The BBC text reporter doesn't seem convinced

What did you make of that Wales team news then?
Against a very experienced Mexico, I'm pretty worried.
The wingback situation is, well, there is a fine line between experimental and silly.

Gunter at right CB (in a 3). In front of him are our 2 failed loan players, Matt Smith and Dylan Levitt!
  • Jonny Williams sets up the opening goal for Wales.
  • Is Williams on loan at Cardiff or signed?

Past caring at the time if I'm honest.

So 4 players/ex players in their starting 11. Not bad going for an average League 1 club.

Especially as three of them struggled to get a start for us and they are beating the team ranked 11th in the World with Williams laying on the goal. Wonder what the Welsh management sees in them that LB didn't.

Levitt must have as much game time for Wales as he has had in club football this season! And other EFL teams weren’t interested in him in January, that move to Croatia was all he could get

1-0 win for Gunter. Hopefully he'll take his clean sheet form back to Sparrow's Lane

On the bench for Wales tonight.
  • Let’s face it what players do we have that currently look better than they previously did ? Yep zero. Not sure what additional percentage Nigel can find in the squad but it’s not inconsiderable.

Sorry what do you mean? Adkins has been here two minutes. As someone said on the match preview, this is the point in which having had a couple of weeks with the squad we might see some effect on Friday.

The international break worked reasonably well for us concerning Gunter. Played the full 90 on Saturday, but not involved in the other 2 matches so shouldn't be tired. And the match last night was in Cardiff, so an easy journey back to us

He’d struggle against Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb.

You dont think we'll see a performance similar to Gomez when Neymar went up against him? ;)

I just wish Dylan Levitt was in the starting XI so he could man mark Pogba.

I didn't watch the game, but it seems that Gunter played LB last night.

Still not as good as Adam Matthews.
