I don't believe they exist, I've never seen one, it's all rather illogical to me. However, I do find peoples stories fascinating. I have friends and family who I trust and they swear blind to have seen one.
Not sure I 'believe' in ghosts however I have hallucinated before and the human mind can trick your eyes
I believe people have an energy that can be felt, I think somewhat sadly that imagination is very powerful, sadly because I think it would be mind blowing to see a ghost. I'd probably shit myself and my brain would explode but I'd love to see a ghost
I have no memory of this event at all but my parents have told me plenty of times.
but when I was 3, my grandmother died in a hospice of cancer in her mid 50s
my parents didn’t explain to me anything around how sick she was as I was so young. So I didn’t know anything that went on as she passed away.
she died at about 5pm one early evening with my Mum and Dad with her and me being babysat and put to bed.
my parents got home late and were woken by me at 3am or so. I wasn’t scared - I just calmly told them I was speaking to Grandma and she told me to come and give my Dad a hug because he is sad.
Firstly like to state that I don’t believe in ghosts etc. But I’ve seen three strange occurrences which I didn’t understand.
The first time was in Cornwall, when we past this beautiful cottage garden on a great sunny day, it was with my family, I was around 5, we spoke to this little old lady sitting in her cottage garden with wonderful flowers, on the way back there was an overgrown field. It was impossible to have not walked passed the cottage as it was a lane with no turn offs, you walked down it, turned around and walked back. It was in perranporth on the outskirts, about 20 years later and we met someone who lived there at the same time we were there, he knew the woman and cottage, she died 20 years before our visit. 6 off us talked to her.
Second I was relatively good at tennis, 30 pupils all 12 years old from our school went to Bisham Abbey, we were in a dormitory, all 30 off saw this white thing walk down the length of the dormitory and through the door, the door didn’t open. We discussed it, told people who thought we been drinking, we hadn’t.
Thirdly, and this is a famous ghost, well at least in Dartford, I used to play cricket for J & E halls, one of the bonuses was we could use the social club just on the outskirts of the factory in the centre of Dartford, the social club is in the old Anne of Cleves house. At the time there was snooker table in one of the rooms, we were playing snooker, and from the wall this white shape appeared, it turned cold, and the blob drifted through the table across the room and through the other wall. We didn’t hang around needless to say. Oh there were 4 of us who saw this.
It’s now we’re they register, birth, marriages and deaths, when I went down to register my father death, I mentioned this incident to the registrar, he told me it was the white lady, who is very friendly and little mischievous, as she sets the burglar alarm, the police don’t bother to come out. How much of this paragraph is true or I was just being wound up as I was showing interest in her, I don’t know.
i stress, I do not believe in ghost, I believe there a logical explanation, I just don’t know what they are.
I like how most ghosts are victorian and ypu dont see any ghost animals roaming pastures
Or ghost dinosaurs crashing down the high street, they were pretty widespread and enormous so logically they should be pretty easy to detect.
I think people like the idea of ghosts, it’s comforting to think there’s something more than just this mortal world and ghosts would be evidence of that. But if ghosts existed then the evidence would be overwhelming throughout human history.
Ive taken enough drugs to know that your mind can play all kinds of tricks on you.
Exactly what I think - I'm sure people think they see things but our minds play loads of tricks on us on the dark, in old creepy places, or when tired etc, or it might even be high electromagnetism places etc.
I do recall vividly when I was very young seeing a massive rabbit and a leprechaun at the end of my bed. They were real to me although I felt too bad to do much about it. The thing is, I had a very high temperature and it proves that your mind can play tricks with you. Had it been a person, I would probably believed I saw a ghost. Fortunately, it was something ridiculous enough to dismiss.
There was an interesting lecture relating to time travel by Brian Cox on tv a few years back. It was a bit mind blowing and whilst he made it as easy to follow as possible, it still wasn't easy.
Basically, whenever you move through space, by walking, running, driving, etc. relative to people who are say standing still, you are traveling just a bit slower through time than them. This effect has been proven by atomic clocks placed in airplanes and orbiting satellites.
According to Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity, time moves faster in the absence of a gravitational field. The higher up you are, the further you are from Earth’s mass and pull, which means slightly less gravity and a slightly faster clock.
I can't remember too much else, but the jist was that theoretically it is possible to travel forward in time. In the way they did in The Planet of the Apes. It is less clear whether you can travel back in time. Again it is theoretically possible but the energy required may render it highly unlikely. Mind you travelling forward meaningfully is unlikely too, but more feasible.
When we look at a star in the sky, we are of course looking at something from the past. The further away a star is for example the more we are looking back in time. You can even look so far back that you can see the start of the Universe with the right equipment. Some of the stars we can see may no longer exist, but we can see them!
Isn’t it mad how ghosts are always dressed like Victorian women. Never like early man or from the Middle Ages. Imagine a ghost bowling about in 80’s clobber.
Possible plausible explanation imo - If something highly charged has occurred, it can leave an imprint on that moment in time. The example given was that various different people had reported seeing Roman type soldiers marching through a field. When the field was excavated for developing, there were remains of a Roman road found and the explanation given was that maybe they were marching into battle, and it left an imprint.
Considering this day and age with the amount of video footage being taken by various devices, which lead to people catching the most random events on camera - if ghosts existed, we would have inconclusive proof by now.
That being said, it is still always interesting to me to listen to people's experiences.

Always freaks me out that one, even though I know it's true.

Complete horse shit.
I knew a bloke got run over by a bus in tbe 80s, and I've seen his ghost many times. He was walking home from a fancy dress party when the tragic accident occurred and was dressed as a Victorian chimney sweep

I used to live in 2010.
Then 2011....

I really wanted it to work, but nothing happened and I spent most of the night staring at a Stone Roses poster prodding my eyeballs.
In hindsight, that evening could have turned out to have been a terrible life choice.
