Am sure I saw it on here somewhere but thought someone posted a link to a site where you can overlay a current map with how the area looked in years gone by. Can anyone point me to that site please?
For anyone interested who hasn't dabbled before, you can switch old maps in the 'search panel' (link at bottom left). The best maps I think are the 1944 to 1969, that the above link is set to, and also the 1892 to 1914 (4th one in list).
Brilliant facility. Though my area has been greatly built up in the last 150 years, you can see how the basic layout of the roads from old country lanes is essentially the same. Thank you.
