Hearing there was some sort of Armed robbery/altercation in Sparrows lane about an hour ago, two helicopters, armed response, dogs etc - anyone live around there?

Nope, attempted armed burglary by all accounts, think it's at that new development off avery hill which I think backs onto Sparrows Lane if they went garden hopping.0

Just messaged a mate of mine who lives on Sparrows Lane... he said police were going round the back of his garden and neighbours gardens with dogs. This was around 6pm

How how did I miss all this? I ran from new Eltham shops down Reventlow then Tiverton, then right into Sparrows all the way to the end, then left down Avery Hill Rd down to the Halfway St junction.

I wouldn’t worry about it. We live 2 doors away from where the horrific 2 bus/1 car crash happened last year and didn’t hear a thing. Someone called us to check we were ok and when we looked out the window saw the complete carnage with fire engines, police, ambulance etc. Very weird experience.AFKABartram said:How how did I miss all this? Reminds me of years ago when around 4am we were woken up by a knock at the door, looked out the window and there were police everywhere. I put a dressing gown on, went downstairs and open the door to two coppers in body armour and holding semi-automatics who told me they were searching for an armed man and wanted to look in my garden. Come in officers I’ll show you the way I says. I lead them though the house and got to the conservatory, through which they were going to have to go to get into the garden. I handed them the keys, explained the lock, the layout of the garden and pointed out where somebody could hide, then stepped back to let them get in with it. Two minutes later they were still faffing with trying to open the conservatory door so I stepped forward, took the keys off them, opened the door and let them into the garden...then realised it was still pitch black out, we were looking for an armed man, the coppers were armed, in dark clothing and in body armour, I was the easy target in a white dressing gown and they were letting me stand between them and the guy they were looking for.DoctorCharlton said:Just messaged a mate of mine who lives on Sparrows Lane... he said police were going round the back of his garden and neighbours gardens with dogs.
