  • I thought he was pretty good and quite funny when he guested on Charlton TV a while back.
He might be a nob nonetheless, but I have no idea about that.

I loved Melrose the player, for us. But I met him once and thought he was an absolute ****, openly taking the piss out of two young lads outside Wolves ground to look "clever" in front of his pals. Knob.

Was that during his short Charlton career or years later , who did the fans support he took the piss out of ?
    not doubting he’s a **** he’s a sweaty sock for a start so increases the odds **

** only joking I love Scottish people x
It was around the time he was playing for Macclesfield, so a few years after he left us. Charlton were playing away at Wolves and two Charlton fans* in their late teens were walking about outside the ground when one of them spotted Melrose, suited and booted, making his way towards the main stand (presumably on some sort of corporate slosh).

The Charlton fans said hello, explained who they supported and said how much they enjoyed his time with us. He just looked at them like they were shit on his shoes and then in a mock cockney accent came out with some old guff like "Cor blimey, apples and pears, my old man's a dustman", etc, much to his own amusement and that of the people he was with. Totally uncalled for. Just rude c**ty behaviour.

To be fair, I think one of the Charlton lads may have then said something like "Enjoy Macclesfield, you c***!". Which he didn't like, but fcuk him.

*one of these two Charlton fans may have been me.
    Never meet your hero's!
I met Chris Powell at the dump in Croydon (the actual dump, I'm not talking about Selhurst). He was an absolute gent 🤣
