He was about 4th choice keeper behind Bartram, Uytenbogaardt and Marsh thats why he moved on. In those days when the first team was away the reserves would be at home on Saturday afternoon and I often saw him play along with plenty of others who didn't make many first team appearances because there were no subs then. Malcom Allison went to West Ham for the same reason.

Thanks for posting that link Len, my late father would have known the name but the only understudy to Sam Bartram, albeit for one season in 1955/56, I saw play was Frank Reed.
