Amos 6.5 - Good handling again.
Gunter 6 - Despite his goal didn't seem overly keen to get forward.
Pratley 6 - Not great but still some good bits.
    Pearce 6 - A bit clumsy.
Matthews 6 - Given that he doesn't offer much coming forward as a RB, I thought he did ok. Fed a number of decent balls into the feet of the forwards and had one decent run in the 2nd half.
Watson 5.5 - Struggled a bit but still did some good work.
Forster-Caskey 7 - Good on the ball and tried to keep things moving at pace.
Maatsen 7 - Inches away from a tremendous goal and put a lot of effort in. Gave us good energy and is a huge talent for an 18yr old.
Williams 6.5 - Buzzed about and did his best to keep us ticking.
Aneke 6 - Decent control 1st half but faded away just like he did in the FA Cup game. Keep him as sub.
Washington 5 - Bad miss....looked like he was leaning back to me. He's an average League 1 player so he will games like yesterday....in and out.
Morgan 6 - Quite bright but fell over at a key moment and a chance was gone.
Maddison 7.5 - Absolutely superb goal. Has to play from the start because he's got the tools that none of the others have got.
Bogle - Did ok but doesn't look a threat in the box.

Ref 7 - Pretty good. Did he miss a handball by Pratley when he did the diving header?

  • Steve Brown 10. Top commentating.
Really? He was decent, I wouldn’t get carried away though. Basically predicting that Plymouth were done and it would be all Charlton after we got it back to 1-1 was a bit weird.

And the analysis of their free kick that led to
the second goal was a bit off - “that’ll be fine, don’t mind giving them away there.”

  • Amos: 6 - not that much to do and handled crosses pretty well
Gunter: 5 - a bit shaky at times. Not sure where he was for the first goal
Pratley: 5 - caught out positionally a few times and looked vulnerable against pacey strikers. He has filled in well and is a great professional, but I’d like to see him back in midfield
    Pearce: 6 - did ok
Matthews: 5 - a very poor decision to play him at left back
Watson: 4.5 - off the pace and had a nightmare start to the game. Could do with a breather
Forster-Caskey: 5 - too slow and predictable, although he was better when he went to the base of midfield. I don’t understand why he takes all our set pieces when Maddison is on the field, especially free kicks 25 yards out
Maatsen: 7 - good pace and energy, although I prefer him at left back
Williams: 7 - worked hard to get things moving
Aneke: 6 - some good touches in the first half but was generally well policed
Washington: 5 - a bang average League 1 forward. Missed the best chance of the game
Morgan: 6 - started very well but dropped off
Maddison: 7 - a great goal and showed other flashes of class and vision, notably in setting up Washington. We don’t see what goes on in training and behind the scenes but we need to utilise his quality to full effect in our attacking play
Referee: 6 - let a few things go in the first half but generally ok

Amos: 6 5 let down by the defence.
    Gunter: 5 5 missing Fame +Inniss
Pratley: 5 5 extra point for playing in wrong position.
Pearce: 6 needs a CB alongside
Matthews: 5 5 extra point for playing in wrong position.
Watson: 5 5. From MOM last time out to mistakes.
    Forster-Caskey: 5 5 the invisible man.
Maatsen:6.5 talented boy and unlucky with cracking shot.
Williams: 6 5 good runs in 1st half but poor final ball.
Aneke: 6 why he is never as effective when he starts is a mystery ?
Washington: 6.5 had a golden chance to win the game with Madison great pass but emulated Nicky Bailey
Morgan: 6 rusty but he should start most games. Was he still on naughty step after the wild kick against Shrews ?
Maddison: 7.5 my man Marcus, I feel like his agent talking him up but he has class in his feet and I want him to attack more than he defends. Two great feet. At last we saw his rocket of a left foot.
Referee: 7 5 one of the better refs though I accept the bar is low.
