As a kid I saw him play for Preston at the Valley with Tom Finney and Bill Shankley. RIP Tommy Doc.
..I saw this game as well,remember after the game waiting for autographs,Docherty brushed us aside,but stopped to sign a book for a young lady,someone yelled at him for only signing for the ladies to which he replied"I am a married man son",bit ironical,nevertheless,great character and contributed a lot to the game,RIP Tom.

It was a grass one if you could call it that and it had ruts along it like it was a ploughed field.
