If that’s 4-3-3 then I’m very happy. The back line looks decent and the three makes sense with a holder, a playmaker and a box to box player. JFC will have to shield more than he usually does and that’s likely why Bowyer has left out Maddison, as Albie and Gilbey will offer more running than Maddison naturally would. Two pacy wingers as well, though we need to make sure we don’t ask too much of Washington as a lone striker. Having Chuks, Maddison and Williams able to come on if we need more impetus is a good position to be in and Schwartz can come on if we’re either desperate for a goal or coasting. I’ll feel slightly less positive if it’s a 4-4-2 and Millar is playing flatter out wide but still, decent line up
I guess if we need a goal we could potentially remove Miller or Smyth for Aneke (Washington moving out wide), Schwartz then comes on for Morgan meaning we go to a flatter 4-4-2
Could even bring both Miller and Smyth off with Maddison giving the other width opposite Washington
A more normal looking team but Maddison should be starting.
Not convinced about Washington as a lone striker, but he should be more of a threat than Bogle.
Agreed!
Would have Maddison starting instead of either Gilbey or JFC
I'm not a massive fan of JFC, but think his game is suited to this midfield. How Gilby has got in ahead of Maddison or Williams is beyond me though.
I don't like to be negative about players, but Gilby has been underwhelming since he came back from injury, where as Maddison and Williams have been positively affected games and then have hardly been seen since.
Maddison falls short in the front 3, as not very pacy, and wont track back in a midfield 3, so if he comes on, it will be a change of formation, as Bowyer regularly likes to do during matches.
I am very happy with this team, Gilbey to prove that he can play, Gunslinger to come on and score,

Totally agree with you about Gilbey underwhelming us so far, but this could be his kind of game and team. You can’t win player of the season at all 4 of your previous clubs without having SOMETHING about you. I think when we’re going for the pace we have, Bowyer obviously wants to play someone more defensively solid.
Think Maddison is very unlucky not to be playing though.

In that case why not play Maddison on the right where he can cut in and create space for Gunter to overlap?
Madison's punishment for scoring that goal of the season then putting a chance on a plate for Washington to hoof has been.....zero minutes since!
"I told you Mads, I don't want speculative shots from distance as they waste possession when we're in a good attacking position" "But I scored gaffer" "I don't care. In that part of the field you need to pass it sideways or backwards. None of this shooting at goal nonsense."

Agree Maddison ahead of Gilbey.

Try one of those... Make sure you have a pop up blocker though!!
Subs: Mayard-Brewer, Matthews, Purrington, Williams, Maddison, Schwartz, Aneke.
Can't wait until the 65th minute!

(Both him and Forster-Caskey did actually)
It must have been the game before that they had to avoid getting booked in, makes Aneke's against Plymouth even more frustrating!!
Charlton on the tele
Give it some wellie!
Bullseye 1986
Twenty quid to watch the bench play three a side at half time.
Whatever the final result that is a defeatist selection. Pathetic.
The cut off would normally be a specific date in the season, but it states this season after 19 and then 37 league games.
Whether you have played that amount or not is irrelevant. Other clubs have and you can’t help postponements throughout a season.
The cut off was Boxing Day, which was the 19th scheduled league game of the season.
Gilbey therefore, is not suspended.
Happy days.
