A very entertaining broadcast. I was great to see both Robbo and Morts. Scotty seems a very good anchor in these programmes and it wouldn’t surprise me if Sky offers him a job. Another transfer eh!

Sky had 2 presenters of their EFL Coverage. They wanted Caroline Barker added so one of the existing 2 had to go and they chose Scott. Barmy decision

Curbs has impressed me enormously on Valley pass. He always came across as deadpan and almost devoid of personality as a manager, but that was clearly an act for the media. A new career in comedy awaits, I fully expect to see him on Children in Need come the autumn.

It's interesting you say that, and I agree that when the manager with us, and afterwards at Wet Spam, he always came across as very serious with a 'hangdog' look.
In May 2006, a few days after his departure had been announced, I attended the Players Sponsors' Dinner at The Valley (my company used to sponsor Stefan Anderson). I had been in Curbs company on a number of occasions before then and although very accessible he was quite hard work! On that evening I engaged him in conversation, not surprisingly about the recent news! He was engaging, informative, open, and it was me who had to end the conversation to allow others to have a chance to speak with him - he didn't want to stop. I would also add that he had a smile on his face throughout the evening and looked 10 years younger as if the weight of the world had been lifted.
My conclusion was that he was so passionate about Charlton and so intense in his approach that it was all consuming, and had began to really take its toll on him - suddenly he was free of the pressure and it showed the real Curbs.
That reminds me of one of the Junior Reds Christmas parties that my two always attended. They had to name a player in advance who they wanted their picture taken with - my youngest named John Barnes, and my eldest - Curbs!! Curbs wasn't at the party and neither was Barnes so the club arranged for anyone who had named John to have an afternoon at SL, and after training to have their picture taken then. They both went and duly had their pictures taken - nobody else had named Curbs and he was called over, surprised that he had been named, and duly posed with Robert for the photo. He was absolutely brilliant with the boys.
We talk about Charlton legends - Killer, Flash, Keithy, et al but the biggest Charlton legend in my lifetime is without a doubt Llewellyn Charles (Alan) Curbishley.
I met Curbs at a private dining event at The Bickley Arms in Chislehurst to raise money for the Upbeats - this was after he had left Charlton - really good company, funny, happy to answer any question - stayed well passed the time he was due to leave - wish I could remember the stories, but I got well pissed up

Mortimer is a legend. Despite him last playing for us probably 20 years ago, i'll always fondly remember the guy, especially that night dancing round Millwall's defence in the snow.
I'm genuinely 100% certain that 20 years from now i won't fondly remember a single player from the current team.

Spot on. I'd add articulacy to that list, all of them thoughtful individuals who speak very well, and there's clearly a shared bond from those heady days which were the peak for many of those careers.
yep, curbs has been very good on valley pass but lets not get carried away - he ain't mickey flanagan or jim davidson just yet but i think he's comfortable with scott minto who is also excellent and he seems to be really enjoying the nostalgia - and why not, he was the architect of all those brilliant times and teams and he is rightly revered

Close run thing between Bartlett, Deon Burton and Yann for best leap, but Bartlett was Teheran best of the three when it came to the power and control he had on headers. Yann weren’t half bad either though.
