and here comes the big lower order stand - sigh

It's Tea so I am going to predict a wicket within 3 overs of the resumption
    Well that worked - not

    181-6 and 107 ahead
  • 190-7

Another wicket to Logan. He has figures of 10-1-18-2

The sooner we get this lad on a permanent contract the better not just because he looks good with a repeatable action but is a left arm spinner which is like gold dust. Quayyum has retired, Qadri has not looked anything like the prospect we hoped he would be and O'Riordan appears to be OK with bat and ball but particularly great with either.
  • No sooner do I post that than Logan gets another

    190-8
  • Logan is only 23 and a victim of the number of spinners Yorkshire have on their books including Bess and Rashid. He only played two FC games and in one innings took 4-22 including the wicket of Sibley.

He's only on a two month contract but the sooner we get him to put pen to paper the better!
  • Lancs 204-8, a lead of 130.

Lancs now have a batting point (woo hoo! I remember back in the day Kent used to get those ...) and an unassailable lead.

There may be only one day left but unless we're allowed to have two, or maybe even three, innings tomorrow I see yet another whopping defeat.

    :(

Hopefully we'll benefit from they're mistake. Rashid doesn't play red ball cricket, while they chose to sign Bess for this season

A bit painful that as well as no home grown fast bowlers, we are having to bring in spinners from outside as well. Does everyone in Kent just want to bat and keep wicket  :D

It wouldn't be so bad if they could bat and get runs, taking time out of the game!

Useless fact (another one) - Kent's white trousers do not have the County logo on them. The reason is that the 1st team through to their age group teams have to provide their own trousers whereas the shirts, jumpers etc are supplied (in the case of the 1st team) and bought (in the case of the youngsters) by and from respectably the County suppliers.
  • 224-8 and a lead of 150. I fear the worst unless Fanny can work her magic with those dancing shoes!

My lad is happy to just bat but Kent want him to keep. Good job he doesn't have too many at the county in front of him in that respect!

There is one potential fast bowler coming through who Seb is good friend with and who has played with since they were both 8 by the name of Jaskaran Singh. Jas is 6' 5'' has played in the 2s for the last couple of seasons and has plenty of potential. The two of them are going to Australia together come September so here's hoping Jas comes back two yards quicker and a bit nastier too because he doesn't have that edge about him yet!

At 6'5, not even the Kent coaches could turn him into a wicket keeper  :D

I used to play football with David Croker, son of Peter. He was our goalkeeper. And during the summer he was Sidcup 1s wicket keeper. And he was at least 6' 5''. He had to stop keeping relatively early due to back and knee issues which isn't a total surprise.

Let's see what tomorrow morning brings....probably those black clouds will mean I'm not required.

BTW. Has anyone noticed how quiet the Surrey thread is at the moment ?

A case of " Anything you can do, we can do better/worse ! "
  • The most exciting thing about Kent's current game is Surrey scored even less!
  • Talking about Surrey I see that that Mercenaries Are Us have hired, subject to Visa approval, Ashwin for ONE game because Jameson is injured. That should nicely get him acclimatised for the series against England!
  • Surrey are doing pretty badly but still could be worse. Could be Kent.
    Bump
  • That cheered me up. I think we need to reactivate the Surrey thread to post score updates  :D

Burns 1 and 0, to go alongside Crawley's dismal form. Sibley got a duck also

I see de Grandhomme got a massive ton for Hampshire, a shame we didn't pick up any of the Kiwis after their series finished

The reason they are so quiet is that they are all posting on here. They won't admit it but the likes of Canters and Blackpool are closet Kent fans
I might be a closet Kent fan
    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Actually I do love you lot and all the bants

    But 78-12 vs 488-10 isn't worse than 74-10 vs 259-9 is it?

On reflection it is. Infinitely worse.

Burns was in very good form prior to the NZ Tests and then did really well against them. He returns to Surrey to play some T20 which really isn't his bag and scores just 65 in 6 innings, Then he's back to red ball out of form again, scoring one run in two innings off 43 balls. Hopefully, from an England perspective, he will get his form back soon and I would be more worried about Sibley and Crawley. Hameed has to be in the frame given he is averaging 48 this season and only plays red ball cricket

  • Keep cutting those shapes Fanny - no play before lunch

The English rugby international, Joe Launchbury, at 6' 6'' +, is also a very talented wicket keeper.
  • One down.

    I'm warming up.....
  • Robinson won't need anyone to tell him that was a poor shot but, as I've said previously, he hasn't batted for 3 weeks coming into this game and conditions are such it's almost the equivalent for him of playing in his first game in April
  • Cant argue with a strike rate barely above 3.
  • 31-2

    Cox another victim to Anderson

    154 behind

With 7 leg byes, that's 17 off the bat in those 39 overs. Who says the CC can be boring!
  • Denly's gone and following a blow to the unmentionables, Leaning is down!
