Actor Johnny Briggs, who played Mike Baldwin in Coronation Street for 30 years, has died aged 85.

In a statement his family said he had died peacefully after "a long illness, with family by his side".

RIP. One of my dad’s friends was a chauffeur and drove him a couple of times. Said he was one of the nicest guys you could meet. First time he picked him up he was a bit early and JB was still having breakfast. Invited him in and made him a bacon sandwich.
