  • I'm still really surprised wwe have taken him back.  I'd imagine this will be his last chance in a major wrestling company.

I really Hope he behaves himself!!
  • Is the reaction from Seth Rollins kayfabe or legit do we think? I can’t see Michael Cole & Graves plus some referees would have stopped him from getting to Punk?
I think Seth genuinely dislikes punk, but he's a professional & will work the angle with punk.

It makes for a better storyline if there's a bit of genuine heat too
  • The first promo will be very interesting.

Not entirely sure how he explains his return. It goes against everything the CM Punk anti-establishment character stands for. It will be no secret to anyone watching that the only reason he’s there is because he didn’t really have much other option after the AEW firing.

Giving it the whole “returning home” thing would feel incredibly disingenuous after all that’s happened.
  • Punk's return has amassed over 82 million views on WWE's social media!
  • I imagine Punks first promo is going to be a bit of "WWE needs me, because no-one can beat Roman, but I'm here to prove I'm the Best In The World and beat him myself" "there are some people here that have run their mouth about me for the last 8 years and I'm here to make them Go To Sleep" and part "I'm here to make a shit-tonne of money"
  • Punk gets jumped by Rollins just as he's about to speak. 👌🏻
  • He didn't say a lot, basically he loves the fans, this feels like home and he's spent 10 years away being a different version of himself that he didn't really like but now he's back to prove that once and for all he's the Best In The World.

His last words to the camera, off mic, were the most telling though.

"I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to make money"
  • Bit underwhelming IMO.

Came across very formulaic. That’s the key difference between WWE promos and AEW promos though.

I feel like the whole "live microphone" thing was overblown.

We're people actually expecting him to come out and say

"Tony Khan is a fucking loser, a mark and a clown, and if it wasn't for his friends I would have ripped his head off and shat down his throat at All In, now I'm here because Vince has one foot in the grave and Trips can't touch me or he'll have a heart attack, plus I'm gonna milk that new TKO money for every cent!"

It was very similar to the one he cut in AEW.

Interesting they had The Creed Brothers go over DIY then New Day then Imperium clean.

The AEW return promo didn’t feel anywhere near as disingenuous, and actually told a story.

  • Meme of the year!
  • Any predictions for who the ‘devil’ is that is working against MJF?

I have one which I think is quite realistic, and another which is more far-fetched:

    1) Adam Cole. Seems a bit obvious, but is the traditional turn that happens in a tag team after a while.

    2) Now this is a long shot……

The whole ‘bidding war of 2024’ thing has gone very quiet on MJF’s part ever since turning baby face. I imagine this Worlds End PPV right at the end of the year was originally booked with that whole angle in mind. I still think it was intended to be a CM Punk/MJF rubber match which harks back to Money in the Bank 2011, with MJF threatening to leave the company with the belt.

Unless I’ve missed something, MJF’s contract is still due to expire this weekend.

So, who could be the one person who is working so hard to get that belt off of him before Jan 1st?

    My long shot prediction…..Tony Khan.

Apparently the original plan was for some of the goons to be unveiled, but actually be the goons that have played them all along. Shawn Spears was one of them but he's since departed AEW.

One of the guys has a very similar build to Bobby Fish, and Kyle O'Reilly has been seen backstage recently, so my guess is it's actually Roddy Strong, and it's payback for Adam Cole becoming friends with MJF.

If they also use The Kingdom, and maybe add someone like Wardlow, it could be a new faction that can fused with a lot of different people in 2024.

My money is on Britt or Jungle boy
  • I mean look at everyone in the crowd, the masks came off and about a dozen of them properly reacted.

Weak angle, weak payoff and weak wrestlers. If they did it with Fish and O'Reilly, Strong and Wardlow, and Cole was then recruited at a later stage alongside The Kingdom, then it would have had a bigger wow factor, and a bigger faction.

MJF isn't going to WWE, at least not yet.

I really think AEW and Tony Khan need to rethink strategy for 2024, the product has been a bit stale and there's not enough long term planning or storytelling, the Devil thing is one of the longest stories they've had and it's been what, 3 months long if that? Some of the WWE stories drag on too long, but they need to find a happy medium

  • Tony will give MJF more money than anyone sensible will, he's already lost a load of big names and can't lose the golden goose.

The problem from my pov is Tony doesn't realise how poorly things are going, hopefully it's just what he says in public and things are different. Questions about ratings and attendances plummeting are meant with the success of Wembley. He desperately needs help backstage in various areas as he's overstretched.

Fans desperately want another rival promotion like a WCW and Tony's legacy is heading to only showing what a genius Eric Bischoff was.

I reckon MJF secretly re-signed with AEW a long time ago.

The pay off did feel a little weak, and the clean loss was a jarring shock that didn’t quite land.

Had it been the full Undisputed Era reuniting then it would have been worthwhile. Don’t really care for the current set up that they’ve put together.

I'll be very surprised if they haven't got MJF signed up already. A home made talent that (over) ticks every box is exactly what the promotion needs and keeping it secret plays into the bidding war of 24 angle and has them winning it.

I watched AEW for a while but stopped cause I thought it went stale.

Actually watched the PPV the other night.  Thought it was crap.  Don't think I'll bother any more.

I do think AEW has the potential & the roster to be a genuine rival to WWE but the booking is so weak. It's such a shame
  • Nobody gets a crowd pop or cuts a promo like The Rock.

    Awesome!!
  • Nobody gets a crowd pop or cuts a promo like The Rock.

    Awesome!!
Looks like we're getting The Rock V Roman at 'maina!

MJF isn't on the AEW roster anymore, I assume it's part of the bidding war of 24 angle.

I know I’m in the extreme minority, but the teenage humour crowd participation stuff feels horrendously cringeworthy.

Hopefully if/when the Roman storyline gets going he’ll have a bit more to work with.
  • Thing is, what does Roman attack him with, word wise?

He can hardly say "you're never here" because he isn't either. The Rock may be old but he's as jacked as ever so calling him out about his physical size etc doesn't really work. Reigns calls himself the needle mover but let's be real, only Taker, SCSA, The Rock and probably Punk actually create any hype.

The family route will be interesting, the endorsement The Rock gave to Reigns will be brought up, maybe Roman argues he's done more for the wrestling legacy of their family than The Rock ever did.

I don't really want to see the match though, The Rock shouldn't win it, because he won't have the time or the inclination to be the champ, but I don't really want to see Reigns go over yet again as it's all so stale, especially if Solo etc get involved and we get a Dusty finish to protect The Rock's ego.

This match made a lot more sense a couple of years ago IMO
  • It was meant to happen last year and the bloodline angle is getting old now. Out of all the people to end the streak The Rock would be the worse, shades of the other streak.

If the match happens at the Rumble and leads to Solo v Reigns at 'mania it could be interesting. On the promos the two have loads to with the family aspect. It'll be a big match.
