    That's a shocker
  • The Iron Claw, a film about the Von Erichs comes out tomorrow. Hopefully can be streamed soon. Been getting some good reviews

  • Not a very subtle hint lol
  • Yep 100% Mercedes debuting at AEW Big Business!

I really enjoyed it (saw the preview at the Greenwich picture house last Saturday) and, more surprisingly, my my 'not a great big wrestling dork' wife really loved it too.

Slightly mind boggling that such a depressing film was released around Christmas  in the US and valentine's day here though.
  • I only really know about them from the Dark Side of the Ring doc, so be interesting to watch. I can't imagine it'll be too cheerful
  • I'm looking forward to it but expect it to be a tough watch. I'm glad their name lives on with the next generation of Von Erichs working in the business.
  • I think they just managed to hold an entire press conference without actually telling anyone anything

  • Looks like they're fixing the main event. This is all i've seen of it.

Thought that was great. Don’t know if it was all part of the original plan or not, but still entertaining to see it play out.

Crazy to think there are still some people who don’t rate Cody Rhodes as the best baby face in the industry. His momentum turned The Rock into a heel in the space of one week. Unfathomable.
  • I expect they changed it. Cody said on Smackdown he wouldn't face Rock at 'mania.

Cody received a mix reaction during the press conference. I can see the fans starting to turn on him so they need to end the story at 'mania imo. Seth, who was like a third wheel during the conference seems to get a more positive reaction.

I reckon the smart fans believe Rock v Reigns was Dwayne's idea and have turned on him for that reason. I'm not a Cody fan but that match was utter nonsense. Giving up a rumble win and a lengthy storyline for a dream match with little build up. As i said previously, ending the story only works if he wins the real belt. Now if Cody wasn't a great face the fans would have been overjoyed if The Rock took his spot so credit where it's due.
  • I'm super confused as to where that leaves The Rock? Why go through all this if Cody Vs Reigns was always the plan?
  • Hopefully in the background leading to a Rock v Roman's match next year with a proper build up.

Recall you saying you was expecting the fans to turn on Cody about a year ago, when Sami Zayn didn’t get the WM main event. It didn’t happen. The support for Cody is higher than it’s ever been.

If they’ve given up a blockbuster match between Rock/Roman for his benefit then it speaks volumes. Regardless of lack of build, fans were speculating and hoping for Rock/Roman for years - but when it came up it got rejected because of Cody’s popularity. A few people trolling at a press conference doesn’t really weigh up against the momentum he has overall.
  • Maybe Cody Vs Reigns WM, The Rock as special referee and people think the deck is stacked against Cody yet again, only for The Rock to actually help Cody in some way (giving The Rock Bottom to an interfering Solo for instance) leaving Cody to finish the story and a face again Rock Vs Reigns in the future?

Sounds familiar! Definitely plenty of time to build up Roman V The Rock.

FTR, it was more than a few people trolling. Wrestlemania won't be as noticeable but the following Raw could be interesting with all the smarks.

We’ll see, but I think you’re clutching at straws assuming you’re not a fan of Cody. It’s the smart fans who read into everything that wanted the main event to be Roman v Cody rather than Roman v Rock! I’m firmly in that bracket too.

WWE and Cody deserve credit for having built up a super babyface and largely sustaining the momentum when it could have very easily crashed after last WM. I’m struggling to think of a bigger babyface that has got to this level since Daniel Bryan 10 years ago.

  • It's hard to be a babyface nowadays. If you're not some kind of anti hero/rebellion it comes across quite cheesy, e.g. John Cena.

Fans won't the streak to end. I'll maintain to my dying day that it should have been in Montreal but as it wasn't Rhodes at this 'mania is the best thing they can go for. Would be a massive own goal is Cody doesn't go over. A Rock V Reigns match with the streak still being active takes away a lot from it, IMO the stakes need to be bloodline related. Heel Rock helps to play in to this.
  • I don't think it was the original plan, but they've made it believable that it could've been
  • Logical storytelling at its best  :D

Incredible film. As Mr Happy (!) said it's a surprise such a sad story has been made into a blockbuster.

    Some ropey casting!
  • Unfortunately Rock tried to turn the tables on Cody, but he turned the tables in the wrong way.
  • Heel Rock is back, and it is glorious.
  • That was an utter masterclass. When he's not reciting catchphrases he's the best ever on the mic by some distance. You forget how good he is when he's playing the same holywood role in every film.

I can see him turning face and taking on Reigns next year, the promos will be too good to boo like '99 all over again.
  • Not a wrestling fan anymore but loved the Attitude era.

Saw the clip of The Rock on his insta and it made me all nostalgic. May be a heel but still has them chanting his catchphrases and everything.
  • Should catch most of the Elimination Chamber today in between home and travelling to Charlton. A bit of strange card as only 4 matches and lacks real star power, but the two gimmick matches and the novelty of the start time means I’ll watch it today.
