    Not the 29th then?
  • Monday the 4th booked off
    • Papa John’s Trophy Final – Sunday 3 April 2022
  • Anyone tell me why League 1 finishes a week earlier than The Championship & League 2.....is it just so they can stage the play-off final a week earlier  ??  And again, if so why the need to play the play off finals over 2 weekends as its always been over the May Bank holiday weekend.

Baffled & Confused  (to misquote Led Zep)

WHAT THE FRICK? Why so early?

    18/19 - 4 May (Rochdale home)
    17/18 - 5 May (Rochdale away)
    16/17 - 30 Apr (Swindon home)
    15/16 - 7 May (Burnley home)

It’s the 19/20 and 20/21 seasons that have been weird, not the other way around.

It's a week early, as was the 16/17 last game.

Personally I think that's too early.
  • The 2022/23 season will be a nightmare due to the World Cup. Will some leagues continue during the tournament, e.g. L1 and below, or will all football be suspended?

Is it not just that it's the weekend before the May bank holiday as usual? It just feels early because the 1st of May is a Sunday next year.

There is no late May Bank Holiday, due to The Queen's Jubilee, the Bank Holiday has been moved to the next  week with holidays on the Thursday and Friday. Therefore the playoffs have been split over two weekends and the need to finish the  League 1 a week early.

Then we'd all better just hope she's still alive by then....🙂
