Remember Jackson getting pelters when Powell left and not saying anything on twitter.  If i remember rightly.  Jackson bit at some of the criticism and explained that their goodbye was personal and not for the public.  Something like that anyway.  And it must have been when Powell left as I cant think that was it when Fraye left?

I'm not on twitter or any of the other social media apart from FB but if I wanted to thank somebody for something I wouldn't plaster it all over for everyone to see. It just seems a "look at me" kind of thing. I'd pick up the phone & give them a call. Maybe I'm just old  :D
A public acknowledgement of appreciation seems appropriate if it is genuine.
Chuks worded it perfectly. Thanking the gaffer for what he did isn't a slight on Jacko or whoever takes over, and pretty uncontroversial seeing that Bowyer left rather than being sacked anyway

It also shows that there was no instruction/agreement for the players to say nothing...
Unless the request was that they focus on last night first

Maybe that's the modern way, personally I would speak to the person involved if possible or send them a private message, guess there is no right or wrong just personal opinion.

It's 2 separate things though. After all the RIP threads on this site aren't meant to be a comfort for the family and friends of the deceased

Do many players come out on social media after a Manager goes?
Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

If they say how disappointed they are, thank him and say they will miss him it would give the wrong impression to any incoming manager.

If they say how much of an arsehole he was, lost the dressing room, and good riddance they are tantamount to admitting they haven't been motivated or trying.

Best to say nothing in these circumstances.
Possibly but it’s odd that not a single player has broken ranks. I think it’s much more likely that they were instructed not to say anything. Hard to believe that not one of them who are on their phones all day haven’t said one thing.

OK - didn't look at the date!
  • Twitter and Instagram aren't real life.

They may all love him or hate him but not saying anything on social media means little.

Remember he told them he was leaving face to face. They may have all cheered or begged him notp to go then.
Twitter and Instagram are not real life, but the younger generation/footballers in general don’t tend to skip the chance for these sorts of posts whenever the chance arises.

I may be wrong, but my gut feeling is that I don’t think many players would have been sorry to see him go. The lack of application in the performances demonstrated that they were not really in tune with what was being asked of them.

If I remember it correctly, when Fraeye left, Jacko get pelters for chucking his undies in the van and asking him how much he charged to iron work shirts.
