Given how similarly he's done at both Charlton and now Birmingham, and the limitations he's shown in both I think its safe to say that unless he undergoes some sort of reinvention he's probably at best a Championship manager who is perfectly suited for a club in a crisis needing an immediate rescue but perhaps not a man for the long term project.
But that's not necessarily a bad thing perhaps. I'm sure he'll probably have a fairly decent career, just probably not one spending years in the Premiership (as a manager/coach.)
This is how I feel about him too. He has a ceiling, at least at the moment. Tactically, as we saw last season, he's not the best, and he got out thought on many occasions. At his best, he's a good man manager who really gets the players up for it. And that's probably good enough to be a Championship manager of a club with perhaps ambitions of the playoffs but not necessarily one looking for automatic promotion or one that has just come down from the Prem.
Not sure that's fair really. Seems to be doing a grand job at Brum.
Yes, he seems to have dug deep and found another level (admittedly, this was after my original comment.) That said, given it did go off the rails both here and at Brum it remains to be seen whether this new, more nuanced Bowyer is an exception or the rule.
I note from an article on the BBC sport website in midweek that the injuries are stacking up at Brum and Bow was crying out for reinforcements in Jan.
Tatih Chong, for one, on loan from Man utd has been a key player and will now miss 5 months. Yet Bow wants to retain the loan to allow for his return in the spring.
Brum aren't big spenders these days. I hope this doesn't have a ripple effect on us with Leko.
I was reading some Birmingham stuff last night. They are not happy with their owner and assorted shenanigans there but they are also massively turning on Bowyer. Apparently using long throws a lot and “hoofball” tactics are neither pretty nor effective. He also seems to be stuck as to what to do to remedy the situation. All rings vaguely familiar if you ask me and I’d suggest he’ll be on his toes before the end of the season
if you look at the replies to that tweet, the vast majority are Birmingham fans saying it’s would be harsh and he would be a good manager given proper backing.
Bowyer is just about par for the course at Brum looking at their performance for the past 4 or 5 years. They usually rely on a new manager bounce at some point during a season to keep themselves above that dotted line.
I expected no different this season despite a promising start to the campaign, although 2 rivals being deducted a combined 27 points has helped out Bowyer no end. Otherwise they would be currently just 5 points away from the trap door with the 3rd bottom team having a game in hand at a point in the season where owners start to panic.

I told them to mark Mitrovic, what more can I do......
Slightly off topic
Bow was good but he’s not a miracle worker

That club needs some continuity (and new owners) I hope Bow gets to do the job for them
