    A great story that Deano has told in the past is his part in the Roy Keane/Mick McCarthy bust-up prior to the 2002 World Cup.

    Keane delivered his verbal strafing of McCarthy and was dismissed from the squad.

    The room was left stunned and quiet so Deano (back-up 'keeper to Shay Given) decided to break the silence and lighten the mood by putting up his hand and announcing that he was available to take over the newly-vacated holding midfield role.
