    It's because they play loads of internationals each year, and they then get lots of rankings points

    It's all the matches they play in the Concacaf in qualifying for the World Cup, some of the teams like Mexico are as good as they are or better, but most of the other teams are small Caribbean Islands with populations of around 1-2 million, while the US has around 300 million people to select from.
