I wouldn't pay 100 million for the Lukaku who played at Man Utd.
    That's 100m euros, so £85m. In todays world i don't think that's a bad deal.

Think how many chances Werner misses. Lukaku won't.

Kane is a bit stuck as Man City have chosen to sign Grealish for 100m and don't think they fancy the 180m+ for Kane.
I dunno, I think City would spend big on both, Grealish doesn't smack me as a Pep player
There's no way City are bidding 100m for a player Pep doesn't want.

It’s a very bad deal when you consider that they sold him for less than £30m. Paying over £50m for the fee you received when selling him.

Yes but they got rid when he was 21. But the way Chelsea do business, running an academy and selling a lot of young players there's always a chance that some will go on to become world class.

Will be even worse if they sign Rice who they let go on a free as a kid. Let's not forget they also got rid of Salah and De Bruyne early on in their careers as well.

Exactly this, the other side to that is that they've sold players like Guehi, Tomori, Liveamento etc this summer and made £60m-odd, that then goes a long way to paying for incoming transfers.

The amount that they get through, some are bound to end up doing well, others they'll sell for a decent price and they'll be on Nottingham Forest's bench in 3 or 4 years.

Still a mystery what happed to Lukaku at United, as they never replaced him properly

And you'll just know that if the camera pans down he'll have an open can of Stella at his feet with a staff looking slavishly at a discarded kebab wrapper...

Interesting looking at the net spend of current premier league sides over the last 5 seasons.

That’s a good signing! Sunderland fans must be bemused as he was great for them last season.

He's a rich owner because he doesn't spend any money.

Sunderland's whole window has been a bit weird , Alex Pritchard the only interesting signing they've made .

Sunderland are skint after years of buying very expensive but rubbish players and then having to pay them big wages to sit on the bench, or play in the junior teams and then not being able to move them on 'cos no-one wants them

They've got a new billionaire (well certainly that's the family wealth) owner

so what ? .. Eisner owns Pompey and they have yet to escape this division, though with a new 'name' manager and having spent a few quid, that might change .. Billionaires are such cos they know how and where to spend and invest .. Sunderland have yet to show that there is a huge transfer budget available to sign some top quality talent

they have signed a few and got rid of a few, probably close to balancing the wage budget .. I think every EFL club is cost cutting to an extent, over a year with little income has seen to that, even clubs with 'mega mega rich patrons are counting the spare change

Billionaires don't buy "sleeping giant" clubs just to plod along in the 3rd division

Pompey are a weird one , think the Eisner's main focus is fixing up Fratton Park so it's 21st century standard as opposed to splashing out on players

Yeah fair points, I haven't followed massively but just knew they'd lost a few decent players with Curtis to follow. I think the point about everyone cost cutting is accurate though.

"He is estimated to have a trust fund worth more than £2bn that is held by his mother, Margarita Bogdanova - who remains a minority shareholder at Marseille despite selling her majority in 2016."

So we don't actually know how much cash he actually has to throw at Sunderland.

who ? .. and whoever you're on about, my point is that just because a club has a billionaire owner, that club can still be skint IF the rich bloke doesn't hand over any money
