I really don't get some of our fans!! FFS give the guy a chance! If Adkins etal wanted him for their rebuild that's good enough for me! I don't think we should judge good or bad on other teams fans...it seems as though the Mackems didn't rate him but the Wimbledon fans did! So let's judge him when he's had a dozen or so games in an Addicks shirt!
If, as Sandgaard says, Dobson was "one of our priorities", I really hope that the likes of Watson had input here. Let's get some value out of the one-year extension to his contract.
This holding midfield role is key. Getting that right will take us a long way forward ... and I'd like to think that Adkins has asked Watson for his input into any potential successor.
"Mornin', Watso. Troost you slept well. The behrds are singin' an' I fancy buying that Dobson out of Wimbledon. Let's go for our walks and 'ave a chat."
Ignoring want Sunderland fans have said anyone got an idea of what Wimbledon have said?he was really impressive in hes loan to afc according to their fans and richard crawley
A key failing for us for a chunk of last season was how easily teams literally walked through our central midfield, despite filling it with cloggers like Watson and Pratley.
..and lets not even begin the non-scientific link between the above and all those worldies we had no chance in stopping.
I've tried navigating the AFC Wimbledon forum type thing for some positive comments as a balance:
"Sorry but I’d have Dobson as player of the year even for his half a year. The difference having a link man has made is massive, we stopped aimlessly hoofing once we had someone to join things up. He even managed to take enough passing off Woodyard to turn a player who looked a liability into a key part of the team. "
"Dobson staying would be a massive coup, his partnership with Woodyard in midfield has pushed us onto another level. Please footballing gods let him sign for us next season. "
"Dobson adding some much needed bite in the midfield. I like that 👍🏼"
"something I do like about Dobson is he makes mistakes but really works to make up for them"
"Seems the stories about Sunderland playing Dobson out of position and not rating him would be accurate. Cos he’s very good in the role he plays for us which apparently is where he is used to playing."
"Dobson was maybe less noticeable today as other players stepped up but I thought he kept things ticking over in midfield well. Also did some really important defensive covering when Accy got the better of our centre backs."
"Agree with the earlier comments on Dobson. Loads of great performances today but in most of the last 6-8 games he's been comfortably our best player"
HOWEVER, if you go back a little further, comments aren't quite so glowing:
"Woodyard, Dobson and Reilly run around and put their foot in but have little quality on the ball"
"But how long it will take to get players like Rudoni, Woodyard, Dobson, Chislet etc to actually take a shot, never mind get them on target, is a different matter entirely."
"Dobson in general looks better but again his strength is not on the ball."
"Why we have kept on both Woodyard and Dobson, neither who can play a pass 5 metres in front of them is beyond me"
"I mean Dobson yesterday was on the ball a huge amount, some of his stuff was woeful, only a couple of bits were very good. But the majority was decent. He looks like someone with mental strength."
If he is a good player, then why did they release him from his contract. Are we just picking up other teams duds to make up the numbers on the cheap.
Some players don’t work at some clubs. It happens. We’ve also released some decent players for free over the years. Don’t understand the thought process that a player whose contract ends is a dud.
I’m assuming this is a signing to just pad out the squad rather than anyone with a serious chance of influencing a promotion winning starting eleven?
I wouldn't go that far, I expect him to be starting most games of available. He's likely to be the Danny Hollands type midfielder who doesn't rack up huge numbers of goals or assists directly but allows the other midfielders to play with more freedom.
Probably not going to be the kind of player to get crowds off their feet often but very likely to be important to the ones who do.

As if there's not enough pressure on the NHS! Who the feck set him off again ? 😂
And they didn't even announce to turn up at a certain time this time, just chucked it on there, love that. Welcome to Charlton Dobby, let's hope you can create some real moments of magic for us

A player signs
Coincidence? 😂
Welcome George, local, young, combative, free transfer, knows the division, Gallen et al wanted him. What's not to like.

Have a good feeling about him.

Dobbie, Dobbin or Dobbo?
