🚨💣 BREAKING: Cristiano Ronaldo announces he has LEFT PORTUGAL NATIONAL TEAM CAMP. 🇵🇹

“After the National Team coach’s press conference, and following a conversation with the President of the Portuguese Football Federation, I have decided to leave the National Team training camp”.

“In due time, I will tell all Portuguese people the truth about the reasons that led to my departure from the national team, to which I have always dedicated myself”.

“Now is the time to wish good luck to Portugal and to all my teammates”.
The only thing he has dedicated himself to is himself.

Ah the old “I’ll tell you the “truth” but later”. Otherwise known as Lyle Taylor and prior to that Diego Poyet defence. A promise that is definitely always followed through on.

Not a good look for him really. Rested in a game that they won and his replacement Ramos played well and scored. Instead of going onto the pitch to celebrate with his teammates and clap the fans, he storms off down the tunnel.

You are 41 years old and surely you can't expect to play every game.

Should've just retired after the World cup and could've played in the home game v Wales last week as his send off, and been subbed off late on to a standing ovation.

Instead he departs looking like a stroppy teenager and is probably lining up another interview so Piers Morgan can suck him off.

No doubt wants his 1,000 goals before he retires...

Only needs 21 more, he'll get those during this Saudi season given his totals so far have been 50, 35 & 30, so i'd expect this will be his last ever season.

Got to be one of the most dislikeable people in sport. Throwing a tantrum at 41 because the manager isn't a yes man to him so he gets his Private Jet to come and get him from Copenhagen.

    Absolutely embarrassing behaviour.

What he's become, tbf, is a reliable litmus test for absolute wrong'uns (i.e. literally anyone who still glazes him in 2026)

Shame.  Phenomenal footballer but his advisors need to nut up and tell him it's time to call it a day.

He's had an incredible career and dedicated his life to the game but also incredibly generous with it.  To operate at that level for so long he clearly has to be wired up a bit differently to most of us.

Love him or hate him he's had a stunning impact on the game.

Just let it go man.  Don't undo all the good you've done

According to RSSSF, he's already passed 1,000 goals. But he still has a mountain to climb to reach the top-scorer title.

I think in the great Messi vs Ronaldo debate, when it’s all said and done, there will only be one winner.

    Never.  Totally different players.

Who would you rather have? CR7 the ultimate modern day individualist and goalscorer?  or Leo the assist machine that also scores like a madman.

Both unbelievable but totally different.  The debate will go on for years - until Haaland hits a thousand goals in about a fortnight

Ronaldo comes across as quite a nice person, apparantly very generous to charities as well.

To me he has always come across as a narcissistic arsehole.
I suspect it's because he is.

I don't think Kathryn Mayorga would agree about him being a nice person

I saw in Portugal’s last game in the World Cup. At the final whistle not one player came over to hug, shake hand etc with Ronaldo.

He ignored them and they ignored him.

Very very strange if his team mates who know him very well, consider him a nice person.

No different really to this week walking out on the squad because he wasn’t selected.

He’s always acted like an immature, self obsessed, diving, preening, cry baby.

Can’t stand him & definitely not nice.

He comes across as a giant ego on two legs and a massive sulker on the rare occasion he doesn't get his own way.

A totally disproportionate number of Hungarians in that list. Do they count corners as goals in Hungary, or what?

Just googled the top guy Tichy. In one season (mainly friendly games) he scored 201 goals in 86 games.

I don't think we can take some of these guys goalscoring numbers too seriously.
