This has been bugging me over the last few days ...

Who the hell sieves their rice?

Comments

  • I tend to dump it out of the saucepan into a sieve simply to get any remaining water out, but I don't actually SIEVE it.

I didn't get the colander adverts - surely it'd all just fall through the holes!
  • the boil in the bag rice is the way forward. Always then dump the bag in the colander and run the kettle over it.
  • No...cook loose rice in a saucepan this way:

One cup of rice per person, add a pinch of salt and olive oil (stops it sticking), cover with water, turn down as low as possible and leave to cook slowly for ten minutes. Stir a couple of times and add extra water if necessary and of course don't let it boil dry.

Makes the best rice, no need for boil in the bag rice.
