Yes! One of my greatest away days was the year we won the championship to get promoted to the premier league (no dig intended but please take it as one 😂) and beat Coventry away after being 2 down. Coventry were in the premier league at the time…..great dayMillwallFan said:All jokes aside, it must rile you that your team never seem to turn up for the cups? Yes, but you’ve been in the top flight (very briefly) and mentioning that wouldn’t have suited my agenda!MillwallFan said:

Cup runs are boring mate, especially once you’ve won it. The premier league livens things up, do you agree? Oh, wait, sorry 😉MillwallFan said:
Indeed we are the draw specialists, and we haven’t started particularly well. But I think we have enough about us to finish in a similar position to last season. Mid table ish. On paper our squad is slightly better than it was last season.Valiantphil said:

109 pages the last time I lookedYou never know if we fluke staying up this year the only proper South London derby might be back on next season...
If you keep drawing winnable games, you will be joining us and the Dons. Its all a bit dull though. Will need a good cup run to liven the season up. Haven’t had one in a couple of years 😉
Ok, I’ll bite 😆… you know top flight football didn’t start when the premier league did don’t you?As for the FA cup, we’ll done for winning it nearly a hundred years ago, have you ever got past the third round in your lifetime? 😉There you go, there’s your nibble 😊
Past the third round, of course I have!!! I’ve been supporting Charlton since 1986, in that time we must have got to the 5th round at least twice and the quarters once!!! That’s not even considering the small number of occasions that we’ve made it to round 47 -

Pre Premier League top flight 1936–1957 including runners up and a third, fourth and fifth finishes. In that era it was common for Charlton fans to watch Millwall when Charlton were playing away, and perhaps vice versa? And yes I was ‘wall in the sixties 😬3 -
It's nothing short of abysmal and pisses me off at how it's become accepted that we're shocking in the cups.MillwallFan said:All jokes aside, it must rile you that your team never seem to turn up for the cups? The whole "distraction/ concentrate on the league" thing is a complete fallacy too as impeccably demonstrated by successive sides.17 -
Agree. I’d be very happy to be mid table in the Championship and giving a cup run a real good go. Very tough to get even close to winning these things nowadays, such is the disparity between the top six Premier League club and the rest, but it’d provide some good days out at very least.RodneyCharltonTrotta said:

We can use "concentrate on not getting relegated" as our cup excuse this season.JamesSeed said:

Actually, to tie it back to my original post for the thread, I believe that the cup semi against Wigan was it, they all started fighting one another at that game as well

So yes, I can see why they love a good cup run0 -

I remember it was played on my birthday on a Thursday and think it was also live on bbc.
our prematch entertainment was watching a group of smoggies knocking crap out of each other in some dingy pub. To be fair, that was the highlight.1 -
It does for a minute but then you look at how many extra points we have won without Cup distractions and the promotions and high finishes we have achieved year-on-year and you know you wouldn't change a thing.MillwallFan said:All jokes aside, it must rile you that your team never seem to turn up for the cups? Haha...funnily enough, no! Yeah, it was a Thursday night. A very long day that started in o'neills at kings Cross at about midday and ended up in the hotel bar at about 2am. Remember going in a terrible pub after the game and there were a lot of hammered people bouncing around. A few of our group went into "town", but I was pissed and sensing violence in the air I decided to hit the hotel bar. Good decision, as a steady trickle of people came back telling various mad stories haha! Remember having an hour or so to kill before getting the train back the next morning and just trapsing round in the mist as nothing was open. Fucking grim!paulbaconsarnie said:

75% of this talk of a cup run is b@llocks.
More like give us a big team for a good day out.
Best draw in a cup competition is an away ground I've not been to and I'm not bothered about the result.0 -

Need to win in the first round to avoid some snore draw against someone in our own league though, but I agree with you otherwise. Shame that the one time we drew a decent side in West Ham, it was with no fans due to Covid!clb74 said:75% of this talk of a cup run is b@llocks.
