Who is going to be Leuth’s ‘Maatsen’ this year?

The player that could do no wrong. That would be through on goal v Millwall in the last minute at 1-1, round the keeper, stumble and shin his shot to the corner flag, leading to @Leuth saying ‘great timewasting, well done’ :-)
I’m going to go for DJ

DJ is a good guess. I’ll go for Lavelle or Souare - whichever looks better on the ball in their first two games.0

There are a few already arent there?
CBT, Dobson and Souare from memory - Bloke is getting greedy1 -

Lee is almost nailed-on to be my favourite member of our squad, but I suspect he'll be close to everyone's favourite member of our squad after a few games. So yes, it has to be someone who gets UNFAIR PELTERS. Even I'm not sure yet, but I do have a couple of ideas...5

I'm inclined to defend CBT on principle - flair player, very short contract, not expected to play much - but I'll also need to see him show promise in League One games first before I plight my troth. It's like the difference between Matt Smith 1 (completely, absurdly useless) and Matt Smith 2 (actually quite promising) - a difference I feel wasn't acknowledged enough by people keen to cast them as identical failures0

Leuth's previous do no wrong chaps were Sarr and Maatsen off the top of my head. To be fair Sarr was massively underrated in my opinion.
This year i'll go with the obvious shout of Morgan who gets loads of unfair stick.0 - Sponsored links:

Kirk is my bet0

Nah, Levitt was my project before I was forced to concentrate on Maatsen by Bowyer's cruel, HEARTLESS dismissal of the lad.
Can Vennings get close enough to the squad this season to force his way into my plans? Probably not alas0 -

Maatsen was ever present apart from being rested for a game or two.1 -
Bowyer's dismissal of Levitt I mean!0

It's got to be someone with some flair, producing moments of class...as well as the howlers. Hence Sarr over a Lockyer or Pearce, Maatsen over a steady Eddie fullback
Indeed out of our current midfield, Morgan probably fits the bill best.0 -

So i'm going with Morgan.0 -
Any player who hits one decent 40 yard pass every three games no matter how shit they are the rest of the time.

I think Clare and CBT could both be the type of player to frustrate and divide opinion, particularly CBT being a winger. At the end of the day, we're a third division club and I reckon most of our squad could divide opinion.0

Had to do a little search, but this is my first memory of Leuth pulling a Leuth.
The defence of Ba is fantastic
LeuthThe flying f**k are these marks?
I was at the game.
Pope 5 Did most right, stuffed up again tho obv
Solly 7.5 Some lovely wing interchanges. Perhaps a little out of position for the second goal but I thought he had a really good game
Fox 5.5 Not at it today and gave it away a few times
Diarra 7.5 MOTM A really important presence
Bauer 7.5 Thought he had a great game on the whole, some crucial blocks
Gudmundsson 7.5 Sporadic and his crossing wasn't always at it, but looked really good when he came inside a bit more and started to run things; got an assist
Ba 10 OUR BEST PLAYER IN THE FIRST HALF BY MILES. Sure, he tired a bit, missed his chance and misplaced a couple of passes. I've marked him 10 to even up the f**king scandalous marks he's getting in this thread. His real mark is…um, not quite 10. But he was really good for most of that I thought. His long-range passing was excellent. His tackling and turnovers were great. I thought he looked liberated by not playing with Kashi.
Cousins 7.5 Wasn't really at it, but you can't knock the effort or the final flourish
McAleny 6.5 Tidy player. His finishing was bad though - not just the first-minute miss either
Watt 7.5 Linked play beautifully at times and so nearly provided the best finish to a Charlton match I've ever seen (beyond Jackson vs QPR, beyond even Llera vs Swindon) - on another day would have had 3 assists
KAG 7 Sprightly and what an assist
Bergdich 7 He may be a bit of a headless chicken but he got forward and scared Fulham
Moussa and Jackson bossed it8 -
Was that the 2-1 win over Wigan?
To be fair Ba had an alright start for us, then he just nose dived off a cliff0 -
That was the comeback 2-2 vs Fulham1

Was shaping up to be a solid DJ season, but the unlikely figure of Elliot Lee is beginning to emerge...1
