Was sat at the table with Elliott Lee and Chuks Aneke. Both very polite chaps. Good to meet some fellow Lifers too.

    Great evening!

I was on the same table as @cafctom with Lee and Aneke. Both were very engaging all evening. Highlight though for me was informing Chuks who Robert Lee was. He had no idea Elliot's dad played for England. Found all the players there very willing to chat, sign things and have pictures taken. Was a very good advert for the club. Always good to see other lifers and talk of all those good old days. @AFKABartram did you catch up with your mate from the Oak after the dinner? Thanks again to @Curb_It for sorting.

Just on way home from the dinner, thanks for @Curb_It for organising our input. First one I’ve been to and had a cracking evening. Was lucky enough to be sat on table with Gilbey and Dobson, two really lovely fellas who were a pleasure to be with. Was chatting all night.

Hope all the other lifers there had an equally great night. Was great to see some old acquaintances and put some faces to names I’ve not met before.

Gilbey thanked us for choosing him for our sponsorship and really liked our scheme idea that gives everyone the opportunity to contribute. So thank you to everyone who contributed this year.

The downside though is I’m 45 mins into the loopy loop train home to Sidcup and still going. I really will give in to Uber one day :-)
Don’t diss the loop, your not pwopa Charlton

    Another trivial bit of info.

Karl Robinson doesn't like flying hence his teams often spend pre-season in places like Ireland he can get to by ferry.

When we went to Spain the players flew and he drove.

No idea where the pre-season training camp will be this summer, assuming there is one. Players are back in training on 4 June.

Got told pre-season starts on 16th June so is that when our first game is or are some of them not sure? 😂

I was on the same table as @cafctom and @Carl Leaburn it appears (silly flowery shirt).  I was a bit surprised how big Chuks was but still slim and skinny.  But him and Inniss are fucking units!

I managed a nice chat with A couple of lifers and Raelynn (Mrs Sandgaard) who is lovely.

Nice evening but disappointed Mr Sandgard or Jacko didn’t say a few words.  They were at opposite ends of the room…..read into that what you want

Sat at a table with @Sage, Lavelle and DJ.

I sat next to Sam and he was brilliant, really chatty and a genuinely lovely bloke. He said before DJ arrived that he would be quiet and he was!

A few insights that I can remember:

-DJ isn't a fan of the LWB role, much prefers playing up the top end of the pitch and said if he is going to play that role next year he will need to build up his fitness/change training for it as running corner flag to corner flag is very different to what he was used to.

-Lavelle prefers being in the middle of the back three and said he found it hard adjusting to his new position (to the right of the 3 iirc) when he returned from his first injury - a new position and wasn't 100% sure where to be etc. felt much more comfortable back in the middle.

-They were really pleased about Skiverton being brought in - much more analysis work done, Sam said he had helped him look at his game a lot. Also mentioned that he was getting on top of things that were perhaps being let slip that shouldn't have been - didn't go into any details but as I say, very positive. Seemed positive about the new performance coach coming in too - the more the merrier!

-Sam was very complimentary of the set-up at Charlton, especially coming from Morecombe - said it was a huge step up and he thought the team were very lucky with all the facilities they had - mentioned some less-enjoyable conditions at Morecombe! Said he felt they didn't deserve the first class travel etc. when the form was so bad.

-Interestingly, the players don't know if the manager is confirmed for next season it seems.

-Talked about how they hope Dobbo signs an extension as he has played so well (Talked to George for a little while and he said he was very pleased with how the season had gone, especially after his Sunderland experience - he wasn't convinced when I called him the player of the year elect).

-As I mentioned on another thread, Lavelle was, unsurprisingly, a big fan of Stockton and had been nudging him to sign for us.

-Saw next season as an opportunity for a reset and were looking forward to some new faces coming through the door - keen for it to be done early. Sam mentioned his signing - we had been watching him for a few months but his signing on deadline day came as a bit of a surprise - said he was over the moon.

-They couldn't put their finger on why things didn't work under Nigel, but thought he would have gone sooner.

-Fraser was excited about next season and that he was being continually asked when we were going to see "the real him" - said that he'll be ready to go after a good pre-season. Compared our group to Ipswich and said they were really together, Ipswich really cliquey. Didn't enjoy his time at Ipswich, he was told after they signed him (he thought he was their 7th signing) that they wanted to sign 11 more. Not sure how many they signed in the end? Interestingly, he said after Cook went that he was told 90% of the signings were not made by him, which went some way to explaining why things didn't really work at the start of the season. I did also think @Henry Irving had turned up with Scott Fraser!

-Chuks and Innis are bloody huge.

-Chuks said he was gutted when he left and was buzzing to be back. Very confident about bagging another goal on Saturday.

-Heard TS say that we got our recruitment system from Chelsea or that we basically had their recruitment system.

As others have said, was a bit surprised that there wasn't some kind of speech.

-Think I managed to get a photo with everyone, after doing the very British apology each time and they were all really friendly.

All in all a great night and came away feeling positive about next season - obviously they weren't going to be spouting negativity but still...maybe I am too easily swayed!

Can't remember any more at the moment, will post if I remember.

That’s all well and good mate but can you answer the most important question, what was the vegetarian option?

Can someone remind me of the poster on here who is involved in the women’s team? Trying to track down the shirt we sponsored.

The that was working in the Commercial office last year, Jo, has left and not got a proper answer since.  Would be nice to give the shirt to the winner of the thing!

@Vienna_Addick I still have the shirt you won last season? I found it in my work drawer! Can I post to you? I’m happy to post it.

Still not got the women’s shirt we won. Did I see shirt sponsorship mentioned in another thread somewhere yesterday??

Is there shirt sponsorship this season or was it decided to withdraw our support? I vaguely recall seeing some discussion but can't remember the conclusion.

No, not doing it this year. We didn’t get all the shirts we sponsored last year, we never got all our sponsorships listed online or in the programme, and we’ve still not got the photos back of the prize winners at the dinner with their sponsored players. So we’ll pass this year and reassess next year.

Are you still on your way home on the loopy loop train?

Cheers. Yet another depressing example of our club going down the toilet.

@Curb_It I should be coming over for a game before Xmas. Could you hang on to it for a while longer? If you mail it, I will be stuck with a load of customs duties.

Yes no problem. I’ll hold on to it. Message me nearer the time to remind me.

That’s really sad - in fact disgraceful for a commercial arrangement.

Not sure news has reached you yet, but to add another dampener, the loopy loop train is being binned off - as reported by one of our own:

    Disgusting but not surprising
