  • Close 3rd set in the Raducanu match - lots of breaks of serve
  • Raducanu doesn't seem to be going after shots she normally would. Is it because she isn't comfortable moving on the clay, sliding etc? The other player seems to go for absolutely everything but Raducanu doesn't go after shots that I'm sure I've seen her go for on hard court and on grass.

I don't think she is playing that badly but her opponent is playing very well

A good summary above by PrincessFiona.
    Kostyuk wins the match 6-4 2-6 6-2.
  • Norrie and Fearnley both win in three sets - through to last 32.
  • I hadn't realised Fearnley beat Machac - ranked 20! Now a live ranking of 68
  • And Cam beat the world 27 - great stuff lads!
  • Draper through as well. Impressive to have three British players in last 32...

Norrie and Fearnley both in the bottom eighth of the draw. Would’ve normally meant getting Carlos Alcaraz early on but he withdrew and was replaced by a qualifying lucky loser.

If both win their next match they will face each other in the fourth round / last 16.
  • Fearnley is up to 57 in the live ranking.
  • Three Brits in action today - Norrie has the easiest game.

  • Fearnley’s serve broken early by Dimitrov.

Fearnley has a good mentality after coming through the USA college program and will continue to go higher.
I was surprised that Norrie has a highest ranking of 8 on the ATP rankings back in September '22' as he always looks a tad limited in his all round game. Super fit athlete is Cameron who went to a college in Texas, but no big weapons in his game.
He has won nearly 12 million dollars in prize money so not a bad life for a guy who has one Wimbledon Semi final and never further than the 4th round in every other slam.

Jack Draper has hit top 6 in early April and has a USA semi final slam.
Still believe Jack's fitness condition needs to improve to win back to back rounds in a slam over possible 5 sets with no major injury set backs. When Jack's first serve percentage is high he is a danger to all players.
  • Fearnley created a couple of break back opportunities but Dimitrov held from being 15-40 down.

Power cut after Fearnley fought back from 6-4 and match point down to get it back to 5-4 down after nearly losing this set 6-2.
The players being sent back to the locker room as spider cam stuck too low with this power outage.
Suspended on every court bar one !
Madrid is struggling with the technology!

    Not great for the players...
  • Seems to be a bigger power outage across Spain, wouldn't be surprised to see play suspended for the whole day

This is covering a massive area as traffic lights, card payments and not just the traffic is coming to a standstill in Parts of Spain, Portugal and even reports in  France.

pretty good showing by Fearnley though - has risen up the rankings pretty quickly
  • Norrie out in three sets. Thought he would beat Diallo.

  • Berrettini retired against Draper, after Draper had won a first set tie break.

Draper v Paul in the last 16.
  • Draper is the highest ranked player left in his half of the draw.

    Draper [5] v Paul [11]
    Tiafoe [16] v Arnaldi

    de Minaur [6] v Musetti [10]
    Dimitrov [15] v Diallo
  • With Zverev and Fritz both out yesterday, that leaves Draper as the highest ranking player left in the tournament.

    Cerundolo [20] v Mensik [22]
    Ruud [14] v Medvedev [9]
    Draper/Paul v Tiafoe/Arnaldi
    de Minaur/Musetti v Dimitrov/Diallo

Jack Draper wins 6-2 6-2 against the World number 12 Tommy Paul and he is looking so good on Clay despite it being only the 7th competitive match  he has played on the clay.

If Jack says fit he can consolidate his position in the World's top 10 and he's looking the real deal.

Doing surprisingly well so far - some valuable ranking points as well.

Draper v Arnaldi next after Cerundolo v Mensik which is in the second set.

Dan Evans earlier lost in a clay challenger event in the Czech Republic.
  • Draper just started.
  • Draper double break to start, leads 3-0 in the first set.
  • 6-0 Draper.
  • A bagel for Matteo Arnaldi who had a good win against
Tiafoe in the last 16 in straight sets.

He finally gets his 1st game on serve at the start of the 2nd set. Jack seems to like clay.
