  • not even sure why this is a discussion. when was the last time you saw a player being pulled up for a foul throw?
The game before, Donny player threw it too far from where the ball left the pitch, ref gave the throw to us.
What was also noteworthy from the Donny match was that in both the first and 2nd half, a Donny and then Charlton player took throws from almost identical positions that were retaken because the ball did not make it on the pitch.

I've never understood why such a simple skill is not a foul throw in the laws of the game, yet if you take a corner and kick it straight out of play you don't get a retake.

  • And we have a go at Lee Johnson for moaning...

    It’s from behind his head.

Foul throws are a ridiculous law anyway. Should be able to return the ball into play however you want. Offsides apply.

The ref was poor, but this wasn’t wrong. He should have sent their bloke off and, if he was consistent, he would have disallowed our goal for a push.

Read the laws of the game. The link is on the first post. People spend hours moaning about refereeing decisions when they don’t know the rules. It takes less than an hour to read the laws of the game they love so much, yet they don’t do it. The game is much more enjoyable when you understand why the ref is applying the laws as he or she is.

Because a corner is in play when kicked and goes out of play. A throw starts off the field of play
  • Never a foul throw, he had both feet on the ground, the ball went behind his head be it for a split second and the ball was thrown forward.

I think some of you are getting confused because you are not used to seeing players move quickly and thinking on their feet. Hopefully JJ will plant a bit of this in some of our players
