I have a vague memory that Bertie Auld was the fourth Celtic player sent off in their game against Estudiantes in 1968 (I think)? This was the kind-of world club championship of it's day with the European Cup holders taking on the South American equivalent. It happened very late in the game, and Celtic were losing anyway (4-2 I think?), but if he had gone off, the game would have been abandoned (as you had to have 8 on the pitch according to the rules). Auld refused to go off (no red cards back then!), so the ref ended up playing the last few minutes anyway. Crazy scenes.
