Gateshead have had their own ownership shenanigans in recent years, including the involvement of the infamous Joe Calo. This article includes a short piece from The Non League Paper which places the match in a positive context:
"But most of all, Friday night should be a celebration of the reconnection of the Gateshead supporters with their beloved club after a period of disconnect.
It promises to be a celebration for all of the right reasons, not the ones that should be long forgotten."
the potential for an interesting and lucrative 3rd round should be in all the player's and management's minds as well as winning this one .. never easy against a gritty little outfit that would also love to be in the 3rd round .. we'll do this after a very tough 90 minutes against Newcastle United's lil brothers ..
Sorry for those who rely on the matchday thread, but tonight I am going to have a night off and watch on TV. I know there will be others happy to keep any news on the match on here

In reality we should win it by 2 or 3......but then I was at Northwich and the home match against Wycombe where we were beaten by a Lowe league side.
But putting my neck on the block I think we will scrap through after a nervy start & will win by the odd goal.
1-2.
Gateshead 0 v CAFC 1
Jacko will have them back at it.
Comfortable 0.2 win and onto a dream tie away at Huddersfield or MK Don's.
Where we will lose. Let the magic of the cup continue to delude the desperate.
Predict 0-1
