    His family (parents, siblings) when he done a runner and disappeared after being named as the robber as opposed to the family he had when he changed his identity (wife and children)

    As MrOneLung says, it's about those he left behind. Presumably his parents went to their graves never knowing what became of their son. There' can't be many things worse in life.
