Thomas lives in a suburb south of Denver (think the equivalent of Chislehurst); the fires are in a north west suburb (think the equivalent of Wembley). So not very close, but concerning all the same. Depending on wind direction, he may have a nasty smell on the air each day... Normally, snow at this time of year would prevent any wild fires but it's been such a dry autumn that the trees are very tinder-like even now.
