Weird one. Fifth guess was the first time Iβve tactically used letters that I knew were wrong because I just needed to nail down where my correct letters needed to go.
Thanks for this - am learning Spanish and not wishing to spoil it for anyone else - was a bit surprised my 3rd guess was right after a few attempts with words that didn't exist to fit wit the letters I knew were right
There is a French version, though it operates in a different way as you can just play continuously, and choose the length of word you're after. I actually got my first word in 5 goes

Even if you know one or two letters, there's still hundreds of different variations.
Only getting one letter in the first two guesses isn't necessarily a bad thing as it eliminates so many possibilities.Β
