Drove home from Cornwall today and spotted ‘Charlton Athletic FC’ displayed on a street sign style plaque mounted on a fence outside a house. It was somewhere between Camelford and Launceston, can’t be exact, was not really paying attention to the location.

Forget 'em, undoubtedly a lost cause by now. Why would we want to associate with jam first heathens?
They even make their pasties wrong and claim that they invented them. Every right thinking person knows pasties were first created in Devon.3 -

Only lived here 14 months and not yet spotted another Charlton fan. I drive on the road to Camelford quite often.

Shouldn't this thread be moved to teletext, I’m pretty sure the World Wide Web does not cover Cornwall.1

Padstow is nice.
Beware the machine gun water pistols!
Padstow is nice ..... but in high summer pretty crowded with the Hooray Henry's on their jolly hols.
Beware the Chelsea tractor coming at you in the narrow streets.
I'm not very helpful, am I?
Seriously, around the Roseland peninsular is nice, not far from Truro/Falmouth.
Perhaps around the Lizard, Helston and towards Marazion.
It gets pretty busy in the coastal towns during summer/high season - but inland it's quieter.
And of course, Cornwall itself being a peninsula, you're never far from the sea.

Though I have long since emigrated across the Tamar, whenever we come back we always stay in and arounf Penzance (Mousehole, Marazion, or over in The Lizard). Largely untarnished by the rampant commercialisation of the North Coast, you can still find some of the best restaurants in the county, walk the headland/coastal paths in relative peace outside of peak season, and enjoy the best Cornwall has to offer.1
