Died aged 89.

Best known for the 70's TV program Love Thy Neighbour.

Those of a certain vintage will know the controversy around that one but as it is a RIP thread I will concentrate on the theme tune, another background song from my childhood.

    R.I.P. Whilst Love thy Neighbour would never be made today, it must be seen in the context of its time. When it was trying to promote an anti racist message and actually lampoon racism. Admittedly not in a subtle way but it did reflect the times. I think it should be seen by anybody who wants to understand views as they were in the 70s.

    I thought there was a great chemistry between Smethurst and Rudolph Walker.
