I've not given an update on my situation since May 19th, so I thought I'd let you know where I'm at. My last cancer treatment was 12th January, since then I've met my cancer surgeon twice. Then, in the last 2 weeks I've had further CT scan and an MRI scan. I'm now just waiting for a surgery date, but I'm worried nothing is going on with regards to treatment. Is the tumour growing again? The pain has never really gone away, but I'm controlling it with medication. However, I now seem to have 'tennis' elbow in both arms, and have to wear an ice 'sleeve' every day 3 times a day. My 'fit for surgery' session was cancelled this week due to my elbows being swollen and painful, but, my results have seen my fitness improve dramatically and all my numbers are coming back in the 'excellent' category. So, for now, I sit and wait for a surgery date, in the hope that it happens sooner rather than later. Cancer surgery waiting times are the worst they've ever been, but I have to remain positive. It's very easy, believe me, to slip into a bad place mentally, I'm trying hard not to go back there, but time is ticking and my life is literally in their hands. #fxxkcancer #DarkerTheShadowBrighterTheLight

Hi all, had a more in depth bone scan last week and spoke to my Consultant yesterday, he said that I do not have Bone Cancer and that the original scan showed a dark shadow which they thought/assumed was cancer, Great news, although i still have Prostate Cancer, and they are now telling me that if the Medication I am currently taking, which has taken my PSA level, which should be in the range of 0 to 4, it was 39, down to 3.9. In 6 months I will be having Radiotherapy for 6 weeks, 5 days a week, and potentially, could be Cancer Free at some time in the future, how quickly things can change, still just taking 1 day at a time though, thanks for all your support.
@RedJohn, great news re the bone cancer. On the radiotherapy front, when I had my prostate cancer 11 years ago, there was a new treatment being refined in the Czech Republic, using a proton beam aimed at a tiny piece of gold they place in the prostate; it was looking like being a lot more successful and far less invasive than traditional radiotherapy. You might want to talk to your specialist about it.
What have you been doing with your elbows @Redmidland? If you are doing pull ups to get fit, like the team out in Slovenia - please stop or we will have to send you to St George's...

@RedJohn - how confusing! I'm keeping my fingers crossed it's just an IT problem which means the all clear info had not made its way to your notes as seen by the other doctor, Fingers crossed for you.

I've just had an update....seeing my surgeon a week today! Hoping for an operation date now!!

During a recent check up I asked my diabetes nurse to have a look at 2 patches on the top of my head. She said probably nothing to worry about but she arranged an urgent referral to the dermatology clinic at the Queen Elizabeth hospital.
I was amazed to be offered a Sunday appointment the following week. The consultant looked at the 2 patches and told me that one could be removed and that the other required 2 biopsies. I assumed I would need another appointment but no. A surgeon was on duty and I should wait outside.
5 minutes later the surgeon is at work and a rough patch of skin is sliced off. She then did the biopsies on the other patch.
The results came through in 10 days and I returned to the QE Hospital to be seen by 2 consultants who explained that the patch is pre cancerous and is only in the top level of skin. It needs to be cut out but i have a patch of red skin beside it which needs checked and may need to be removed. I've been referred to Guy's where they have a machine to check the red skin and to the skin removed as necessary.
This shows that the NHS is working well in my area.

I can now plan, I know I'll be shit scared, but hope I pull through the 8hr operation and can start getting back to full health. I'll not see Charltons first game on TV as I'll be in the intensive care unit, but hope we can win, and that someone might be able to let me know. What a fillip that would be, to hear we've won our first game of the season.

That’s an awful situation to be in @RedJohn. Hopefully it’s cleared up soon and the previous diagnosis is the correct one. We’re thinking of you, hang in there.
