Keep fighting redmidland i have just returned after seeing my oncologist. After three months on a new chemo it appears the progression has in some places has slowed but not shrunk anything. I have got to wait a week now to see what they decide. Apparently there is a drug un use thats not yet been proved on the NHS in England as cost effective. But if i want to try it privately it wouls cost £2k a month. Not keen
This is me after 2 plastic surgeons at St Thomas' working in tandem for 40 minutes excised a patch on my scalp and did a full thickness skin graft. I had been told that biopsies indicated it was pre cancerous but they treated it as a melanoma. Will find out next Wednesday if the graft has taken and test results the week after.
A few weeks down the line and after two sessions of plastic surgery at St Thomas' what turned out to be a Stage 1 malignant melanoma has been removed from my scalp. Told on Tuesday that the skin graft has taken.
Proves that getting your skin checked is so important. I've got an appointment tomorrow with the nurse who spotted it. Caught it early because of her.
It's been a month since I gave an update on my ongoing battle. I saw my Oncologist last Friday and one of his registrar team. They've now told me that as my cancer is a locally advanced tumour, it has left 'markers that they are now investigating. They've not yet decided what chemo I can tolerate, and that'll take another 2 to 3 weeks. They also mentioned another option, but refused to discuss it at this stage. In the meantime my health, sadly, has deteriorated and I'm now more in pain than not. I've become virtually bedbound as well, essentially back to where I was a year ago. My MH is now screwed, but I have to keep fighting, above the pain. Time is marching on and I just want something to 'start' so I can plan for the future. The only interest I have now is sport, I can't concentrate on anything else, but my main aim is to get to The Valley for at least one game this season. Live, Love, Laugh and Be Happy xx
Hoping for a speedy 'start' to keep the hopes up and improve your MH Malc. We've not met but it's clear from your posts on here you are a fine chap and the CL community will be well and truly behind you all the way. Best wishes.
One of our lovely meditation teachers was told a few months ago that he had terminal bowel cancer with a tumour they couldn’t operate on. He was given 4 months to live. As a Buddhist of many years he began to prepare for death and was even interviewed about his experiences.
By the doctors prognosis he should be dead by now but ended up in hospital (a different one) due to breathing problems. To his amazement they found that he actually has a form of lymphoma which with chemotherapy (he started today) should put him into remission! I was delighted to see him at his online teaching last week!
lots of love to all of you coping with this. Never give up hope and keep fighting xxx
Hang in there RM. Fingers crossed for you that you get some positive news coming your way mate - you certainly deserve it. You’ve got that goal of getting to The Valley - hold that thought. All the very best.
All my best wishes Red Midland. Better days will come (and that's from an Addick, so don't take it lightly). Keep strong, keep faith, and always keep with us on here!

Hopefully your desire to get to the Valley will keep you fighting.
Try and get some fresh air and sunshine to boost your spirits, maybe with some headphones for your favourite music.
Wishing you well mate.
We’re here, don’t sit in that bed alone ♥️
