Looks like a 3-5-2 again, but at least a better line up it seems
Charlton: MacGillivray; Gunter, Lavelle, Pearce (c); Jaiyesimi, Fraser, Dobson, Lee, Purrington; Stockley, Burstow
Subs: Harness, Famewo, Matthews, Morgan, Gilbey, John, Leko
Now come on lads get this job done...over to you

About the best group of pea shooters we have available to put out against their machine guns. But Gunter!!!!! Why?I have a funny feeling we might sneak something today.4

With Gunter and Pearce at the back let's hope the Sunderland front line have a speed restriction in place.3
-
Distinct lack of attacking options on the bench, 3 midfielders feels a bit excessive0
-
Stockley coming back to fitness will hopefully make some difference. Be interesting to see if John actually appears at all too.1

CM
Gunter Lavelle Pearce
DJ Dobson Purrington
Lee Fraser
Burstow Stockley0 -

The calm before the carnage.1 -
Not that it matter but think Pearce will be in middle with Lavelle on the right and Gunter hiding on the left.3

Good luck with your first match thread. Let's hope it brings us some luck. 👍⚽️🥅eastterrace6168 said:Looks like a 3-5-2 again, but at least a better line up it seemsCharlton: MacGillivray; Gunter, Lavelle, Pearce (c); Jaiyesimi, Fraser, Dobson, Lee, Purrington; Stockley, Burstow

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. I can't imagine Pearce in an outside CB role up against the pace of someone like Gooch. I'm not particularly excited for Lavelle having to potentially drift out and defend Broadhead. But we'll see.mendonca said:Not that it matter but think Pearce will be in middle with Lavelle on the right and Gunter hiding on the left.
We are at least starting to look better in midfield and up front.1 -
Having Lee and Fraser together is a bit of a risk defensively, Dobson will have a lot of work to do...1

No Aneke or Inniss.
I wonder if either will play again this season.2 -

Nice to see Sean in the studio with Curbs and Minto, good to get a current players take on things, looks relaxed so far, shame he is not available..5

If that is the case then Jackson really has lost the plot. Pearce is left footed & Gunter right footed. No way would you play them on the opposite sides.mendonca said:Not that it matter but think Pearce will be in middle with Lavelle on the right and Gunter hiding on the left.2 -

I'm enjoying Sean Clare on the pre-match show. Scott's not wrong about the positivity.

And regardless of where Pearce is supposed to play he always drifts across to the left.golfaddick said:

It's a bloody big reason why BeckenSarr always seemed to struggle on the left of a back three, the skipper kept encroaching into his space.0 -
Feel better having Stockley & Fraser in the team.
Not so having a winger (DJ) & a defender(Purrington) as wing backs . Fuse the 2 & you might just get a half decent wing back.2 -
Pearce would get slaughtered on the left. He has to play centre.golfaddick said:

Is Lavelle left footed or right footed? You could argue that having the better defender on the right to support DJ might be the thinking behind it, if that's how it turned out.golfaddick said:

Yup. Quite funny though watching Curbs taking the mickey out of Clare's dress sense!eastterrace6168 said:Nice to see Sean in the studio with Curbs and Minto, good to get a current players take on things, looks relaxed so far, shame he is not available..1 -
Right. Famewo should be playing for better balance, not that he's been much good this season.aliwibble said:

Spine of the team is there, we just need to sign another 6 first team players and better backups.Croydon said:
Bold are the only players good enough to be here for a peomorion push season. We're so far short currentlyScoham said:CM

Nice catch up with Sean on his early days at the club and why he left so young, but he feels it made him a better player in the long run, just didn't work out first time round4
