MacG: 6.5 - a quiet afternoon but an excellent assist
Clare: 5 - some good defensive work but his distribution was pretty horrendous. Not good, as an important part of his role in a back 3 is to bring the ball out and use it constructively
Lavelle: 7.5 - led the defence well throughout
Purrington: 6 - solid enough
Dobson: 7.5 - misplaced some passes in the first half (like the rest of the side) but more than made up for it with several fine interceptions and tackles to cut out dangerous Burton attacks. Reads the game exceptionally well and has a good football brain. Extending his contract must surely be a priority
Matthews: 6 - solid enough, save for one feeble challenge near the end, when he let their wide player cut inside into the box. Contributes very little going forward but he is not a wing back
Gilbey: 6 - a quiet game and struggled to make any impact
Fraser: 6 - a few nice touches but we rarely had any meaningful possession, especially in the first half
B-T: 6.5 - hardly touched the ball but, when he does, he is a threat at this level
Stockley: 5.5 - poor ball retention and passing. He had one header on target from what was practically the only cross we put near him all afternoon - hardly a ringing endorsement of our 'wing back' formation. Jayden's best contributions were in defence
Washington: 7.5 - he troubled Burton throughout, as he looked to exploit the large amount of space behind their high defensive line
DJ: 5 - he has good feet and strength but his crossing was hopeless
Referee: 7 - very good
Opposition: 5 - some decent approach play but toothless up top

Stockley: 6.5 won a lot in the air, worked hard but is so slow. Still a bit short of fitness from injury
Washington: 7.5 worked very hard. Great goal. Very direct
DJ: 5.5 we lost something when CBT went off. Crossing poor
Referee: 7 arguably the best ref we’ve had this season. Granted, it should’ve been a red on 9 minutes. But I think that was her only mistake

Matthews: 6 Okay defensively but doesn't offer much going forward. However, he is not a WB.
Gilbey: 6 Some good, some bad, mostly indifferent.
Fraser: 7 Looking better each game as his match fitness returns. We need to give him the ball more.
B-T: 6.5 Why we didn't give him the ball for the first 20 minutes is a mystery! Not good at tracking back, but scares defenders when he has the ball in the final third. Goal was a bit lucky but at least he got a shot in.
Stockley: 6.5 Works hard, but does better work defensively than in the final third.
Washington: 8.5 Another excellent game. Causes the opposition so many problems with his running and movement. Key player. New contract ASAP!
DJ: 5 Didn't do much, but playing on wrong side.
Referee: 9 Excellent. Possibly best ref we have seen this year at the Valley. She may have got the potential red card incident wrong, but it looked worse with the benefit of replay. I didn't think it was a red in real time. Most refs would be reluctant to give a straight red so early in a game. I think a red card would have spoiled the game as Burton would have gone very defensive.
Opposition: 5 Not great. Over-reliant on the long throw (a tactic I hate). Build up play was okay, but looked fairly toothless up front.
