Lincoln City FC Scully gets to the byline but his cross is smothered by McGillivray.
In the next passage of play, the Irishman wins a free-kick for city in a crossing position from the left.
Gilbey catches the eye because he runs around a lot. Only ever expect him to mess the final ball/shot up though.
Morgan hasn’t kicked on, yet (he’s by far the youngest of our first team midfielders, remember) but he gets pelters when, if you really break it down, he has done no more or less this season than Gilbey, Lee, and (to date at least) Fraser.
23' CROSSBAR! Gilbey gets to the byline and drills in across, Stockley gets a thigh on it from close range and it crashes back off the bar!

But movement is important, especially in our system with the way we want to play. We just saw it there with a good run from Gilbey. Unfortunately, Morgan doesn't have that, and he's not as good of a ball player as Fraser.

I’m not saying Gilbey offers nothing, but the question is does he offer enough, or significantly more than Lee or Morgan? I’m not sure. He’s probably marginally the best of the three and best suits the role he fulfils, but I also reckon he wouldn’t be that badly missed if you had to play Morgan or Lee in his place. Just trying to bring some balance to the “Morgan’s shit” “no Gilbey is shit” debate.
I say “lads, lads, cool your jets….. they’re both shit!”

Consecutive corners for Charlton are cleared by City as McGrandles is fouled in the air as he goes to head the danger away.

A low cross finds its way through a number of bodies before Wright can dive onto the delivery and clear for City. 18' | 0-0

Clare was silly to dive in as left us exposed, and although we got players back, couldn't stop the shot
