Maybe we shouldn't have hired someone from Maldon & Tiptree. Bit of a jump.

    Which regime hired him?

Reads like a sacking otherwise he would have been working his notice while we filled the post. Nothing about where he is going either.

Maybe he was told "spend some loot on players" and he heard it as "spend on some Luton players"
What’s actually gone wrong  that this role influences?

We have our fixtures organised and players contracted but what behind the scenes might not be working well?

Pretty sure this is a direct consequence of Ron’s wife not being able to stuff as many vol-au-vents down her cakehole as Chris’ better half….

Something went wrong before Reading. NJ alluded to something about the players eating later than normal. Booking hotels etc is part of the Secretary's job. Maybe he cocked up one time to many? It was silly of TS bringing in someone from non league. They wouldn't have overnight stays etc. Plus I'd assume things like player registration etc is much more complicated especially when signing players like Dixon and all the red tape involved, that one seemed to drag on for ages. I'm only speculating but I'm guessing he was out of his depth.

No one is safe from an evidence-free Charlton Life character assassination.
well we've all heard about you don't we, and why you had to go into exile?!

And he is DEFINITELY the reason we are playing the style of football we are, with the quality of footballers we have.

Out of interest I’m wondering why there is a bit of a pile-on for Ron?
nobody knew him but everyone seems keen to criticise him.  Now it seems he has lost his job and it appears nobody seems to give a shit

did he personally sleight some of the people in here or am I missing something
It was patently obvious from his background that his experience wasn't up to it .Just seemed to me that his cv landed (fortunately or unfortunately)on TS desk and that's how he got the job.A prime example of the previous owner thinking he knew best

He had a club secretary role before didn't he? Things may be a bit more complicated at our level but i'm sure its not rocket science.

He was previously head of operations for the Brentford Academy before they closed it down.

He lives in Essex and took a local job after this.

Some people on here blaming him for a coach journey taking over 4 hours because of traffic is ridiculous.

Wasn’t a few years ago that the supporter’s coach never made it to a game? Surely it’s down to the coach company to determine the time required to leave, upon being told what arrival time is.

Was he? Brentford sources suggested his role there was exaggerated by Charlton.
  • I thought he looked scruffy in his announced picture on the Os. Maybe I'm old school/ old fashioned/ a cockwomble/ all three but I think a whistle or smart shirt rather than "just nipping down the garden centre" jumper is more appropriate for a club official regardless of how tinpot we might be league wise.

I welcome the immaculately attired Chirs Parkes back in this respect.

It was always going to be a hard task to step into Chris’s shoes.
And for me it just felt like another cost cutting (I don’t really know what I’m doing) exercise by our guitar wielding nutter owner.
And I genuinely never saw him when I was over, which given where I sit when I did during that era & after I found strange.
