A bar for 50th birthday

Hi, looking for a decent bar uptown for the missus' forthcoming 50th birthday drinks
We are a youngish group of 40-50 year olds and looking for somewhere on Saturday night that might have a small area to reserve, that has bit of music and decent atmosphere

Not been out uptown for a few years now so totally out of the loop

any suggestions - can be West End, Riverside, Shoreditch or even the City - open to all suggestions

All a matter of taste of course, but my mate owns this place and I quite like it (altho am more of a River Ale House/tap room man myself)... https://www.thehidebar.com/

    If you want something different.

Might be more of a venue to hire rather than a bar to just turn up at.

I've been there so clearly cool.

Is it any good? It used to be my handy Maplin store for office emergencies then that shut and this appeared. I literally work across the road I’ve still not been in yet.

I went in there after work couple of weeks ago, it was 6pm on a Wednesday, and it was just getting lively. Happy hour as well. Decent choice of cocktails and you can reserve tables/areas. Decent sized venue with a permanent stage, I’ve heard good things about the live music.

I wasn’t even aware they sold food in there.

The Marquess pub behind Charing Cross Police Station - upstairs function room for hire - landlord is Tommy, and is a lovely bloke - the pub plays excellent music via a record player, and sometimes has live bands - very good selection of beers, and decent food - my favourite pub in London - highly recommend

the food was good enough (pizza and sides) but it doesn't open till 2 and it's very much an evening venue so it just felt a bit like we were having lunch while the staff were getting the place ready
