Josh Laqeretabua

16 year old defender who played for the U18s today in the 2022 U18s semi-final v Barnsley.

Really shored up the defence when he came on.

Big, tall, strong, comfortable on the ball, captained the U16s.

The name is Fijian, I believe.

One to watch IMHO.

Good to know the players that will fill the coffers in years to come

Looking forward to seeing if he can break into the first team at some point.

I’ll keep an eye out for him in the Chelsea youth team next year.
I just hope we get to see these kids in the First Team, for a few games at the very least - Would prefer that, than lose them at Academy stage like we saw with the likes of Kasey Palmer

Really hope that Jason Adigun isnt another like that - Was excellent today, but worry about the Premier League rumours from earlier in the season, combined with the fact that he doesn't have a Pro deal yet.

New Deji signed a pro deal and then never kicked a ball in the first team again!

Shamelessly riding on @snakedavis recommendations for a longevity thread. Like the takeover thread all over again…

I thought he looked great in the youth cup v Brighton. Agree an excellent prospect.

    No, was injured.

Was on the bench late in the season and also played for the U23s

I agree very good prospect, I also like the look of Toby Bower, great going forward and a set piece specialist to boot.

It is possible to consider each young player one by one and find it hard to be indifferent about any one of them.
Toby Bower is a case in point, a definite prospect.

When you look at how well our under 18 team have done this season and from what has been said on here the under 16's are even better is it possible that we have a "golden generation" coming through?

Let’s hope so but holding on to them will be tricky.

Should definitely take time with this player before getting him into the first team. Will take a couple of years just to come up with a song we can fit his name into.

Have seen Zach Mitchell in several games recently. Right side defender. Seems a prospect too.
  • Don't remember seeing his name in U18 squads this season but maybe wrong. Is he still with us.

    I wondered this.  He is a young u18 - eligible for u16 or 17s I think

i hope he’s with us still, he’s a real talent

I taught one of our academy this year and he said he’ll (Josh Laq) be the biggest player from the current academy crop.

Glad to hear he is still with us and almost returned from injury.
