Well the big names have announced themselves ! Step up Mr Kane !4

The amount of times I've done that to someone in front of me who randomly slows down as I'm trying to make my way down to the tube I would have thousands of sending offs, if of course BTP used a card system. A quick apology and we move on and make our way on to the district line.2

Another angle was posted on twitter, can see clear intent.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Anyone who thinks that's a red card has lost their mind.
Watch the actual clip and not a zoomed in photo.
No intent, looking at the ball, very clearly accidental. Credit to the VAR for actually using common sense.
Fuck him, little Argie rat.

I for one would like to extend the olive branch of peace to our beloved Argentinian siblings after that unfortunate outburst

Fair play mate, can't believe someone on twitter managed to get an angle that VAR didn't already see during the game. Impressive stuff.ValleyGary said:

It's amazing how many greats of the game were/are diminutive but have that control and low centre of gravity that makes them so elusive - the likes of Puskas (5' 8''), Pele (5' 8''), Maradona (5' 5''), Messi (5' 7''), Modric (5' 7''), Xavi (5' 7''), Iniesta (5' 7'') and Romario (5' 6'').
If only we didn't have our "height test", we might have had Xavi, Iniesta and Messi playing for us in the same side instead of Lepoint, Buyens and Churchinho!!!3 -
We did have Allan Simonson back in the day who can join that list. He didn't quite reach 5' 5' and was very Messi like in his play.Addick Addict said:It's amazing how many greats of the game were/are diminutive but have that control and low centre of gravity that makes them so elusive - the likes of Puskas (5' 8''), Pele (5' 8''), Maradona (5' 5''), Messi (5' 7''), Modric (5' 7''), Xavi (5' 7''), Iniesta (5' 7'') and Romario (5' 6'').

Messi couldn’t hold a candle to him. It’s all set up for Messi. Simonson had to do it all and he was up against players at a time when the tackles were still full blooded.McCartney said:

With Mbappe, Messi and Haaland all doing well, can guarantee Ronaldo will be shooting from everywhere trying to prove he's better. Could be quite funny.2

100%. He'll be taking any free kicks within 35 yards of goal despite there being at least 3 better set piece takers in the team.North Lower Neil said:With Mbappe, Messi and Haaland all doing well, can guarantee Ronaldo will be shooting from everywhere trying to prove he's better. So you'd have Buyens (zero international caps) instead of Xavi (131 caps) or Iniesta (133 caps)? But I get your point about him being better than Lepoint or Church.sam3110 said:

Though he probably should have been sent off at 1-0.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Hat trick for Messi. Makes it look so easy.
Moves level with Klose on 16 world cup goals and is 1 away from yet another record.0 -

So how are people feeling about tonight?
Air-con in the stadium will help us, this is on paper our toughest group game and with plenty of time until our next match I expect our strongest side - including Saka who has had fitness questions. We can rest him for other group games if needed.
I am more confident about this tournament than others recently despite not really warming to Tuchel. Our first choice midfield is class - probably one of the best 3 man combi's at the WC. But a lot of RIce and Andersons game is based around covering ground, running and keeping the ball moving. I worry that in the heat they wont be able to keep up the intensity and our midfielders on the bench are a drop off in quality. I can't see Henderson coming on to improve anything. Makes it even more infuriating that he didnt take Wharton as he is so soo good at just keeping the ball moving.2 -

Saw the predicted Croatian line-up on Sky this morning. Average age of 31.8 years. They’ll be a challenge for a group game, but we should be able to get it done.2

In some ways its a shame its in air-con. You feel theyd fare much worse than us in the heatLaddick01 said:Saw the predicted Croatian line-up on Sky this morning. Average age of 31.8 years. They’ll be a challenge for a group game, but we should be able to get it done.2
